That better be some oil burner to overcome the inherent bias against diesels in the US. I'm skeptical the refinement and curb appeal will be there.

But B7 can't compete with S8 or S63 AMG in power department

I agree with you mate.

This is what happens when you pit fake Alpina crap versus full fledged performance models from Audi (S8), MB (S63/S65) and Jaguar (XJR LWB). Like in the video, the Alpina just got its ass owned.

An M7 is what is needed. Not some Alpina bullsh*t.

Agree with you completely, I don't think the B7 is the right answer to compete in the segment, unfortunately that is BMW's only offering in this size. Would an M7 be perfect to compete with the AMG's and S8's, absolutely, but I just don't think BMW will ever make one.

This is a matter that is still up in-in-the-air. I remember that out-going BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer was not fond of the idea of an M7. We'll see if incoming CEO Harald Krueger will be more open to it...

But, we now have the X5 M and X6 M so there goes that problem.

As many before them, Autobild is claiming that the M7 is coming to take on the likes of the Mercedes S63 AMG and Audi S8. Power would be over 600hp and price speculated to be around 140,000 euros.

We'd love to see an M7 of course, but an important question is if there's enough room in the lineup for the standard 7 series and both the rumored M770i and M7? That's probably the question being mulled upon in BMW's board room.
I hope so, have always loved the idea of M7

it won't happen. BMW does not have a big market share in this segment. its not worth the R&D if they only sell a handful. The S8 also does not sell in large volumes. Where I live I see exotics every day and S class AMGs are everywhere, but the Alpinas and S8s are quite rare. It seems that only Mercedes owns this portion of the market

A high performance Diesel would be great for europe and me.

With a little tuning the triple turbo Diesel could make 425/450BHP with huge torque.

Yes it will be a new Quad Turbo that will debut in M550d but for other markets there will be the 550e and both a 750d and 750e will arrive after the 5er.
