Spikes Spiders

Has anyone ever heard of or used: http://www.spikes-spiders.com/

I came across the system when building a Jaguar XJ and noticed that Jaguar offers same as a Jaguar branded accessory.

Does anyone know if they are legal in the US - I presume so - whether or not they damage your rim or tire - in the least - and whether or not they can be used on non-snow or ice covered roadways - should your commute be between areas with and without snow and ice?

Wonder if they'll work with the 20" Style 301 run-flat setup...

Thanks!
