What is the deal with this new 7??

I've been given an F01 7 to drive and it feels to me like this car has some sort of front suspension problem, like a bad control arm or ball joint. It clunks over pot holes. Seems a little better in sport mode but not much. Also, the passenger seat shakes like crazy when nobody's sitting in it and I can feel every road imperfection translated through the steering wheel. This is really surprising in a $100k car.

BMW says they don't think anything's wrong with the car. They suggested going into the menu and selecting chasis-adjustment-only for the modes. I don't see how that will help.

Can any F01 drivers comment on the clunking noises up front, the shaking passenger seat and the vibrations felt through the steering wheel?

Not sure about the clunking, but for the transfer of road surface imperfections I'd check the tyre pressures. I had a similar issue on delivery and it turned out the pressures were miles too high.

Didn't experience any of the symptoms you listed during my test drive. I took the car on a highway a few times as well as a twisty bumpy back road to test the suspension and the different modes. My Wife was sitting in the passenger seat and she said it was very comfortable. I don't recall hearing any rattling whatsoever. The car had 18" All-season tires mounted at the time and tire pressure 'looked' ok to me although you can NEVER really tell by simply looking at a tire if it has the proper inflation pressure.

I would go back to the dealer and ask if they have a different F01 for you to try. It definably sounds like there might be something wrong with it!

I drove one and I did hear a squeak when making turns, so make there is something wrong with it.

I havent experienced any of your suspension issues but perhaps the vibrations on your steering wheel are related to the lane departure warning...try switching it off..it can be a bit annoying at times

Thanks for the responses. On the plus side, this car is a rocket. No turbo lag I could sense. Also the tech is amazing. I think this particular car may just have a mfr. defect somewhere up front.
