Pulsation / Vibration when Braking
When I brake moderately at certain speeds I feel a pulsation / vibration in the pedal.
Mentioned it to the dealer and they said the rotors may be warped, but that they’re not covered under warranty if there’s any rust on them. What does this mean? Is this a known problem? I brake normally and haven’t done anything to cause this. Anyone know the best way to reproduce the problem? I'm scheduled to bring my car in today. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks. |

It happens. Go to Parks Geek site, get ATE rotors and Textar pads (those are BMW OEM brands). Buy brake fluid from BMW dealer. Get them replaced by a reputable European mechanic, ensure bleed the brake fluid after (if you do it through the dealer, they'll rape you on parts and labor). Make sure you get an alignment and tires balanced by BMW, sometimes that can be the root cause of warped rotors. You probably can re-use all the brake sensors if your brake wear indicator isn't on yet.
You can easily replace the rotors, pads, and bleed the brakes at home. You'll need a hand with bleeding the brakes, but it shouldn't take you more than a couple hours. |
