I don't have the part number right now. My dealership swapped this out since my car was manufactured just shortly before BMW put the individual chrome strips on the cars at the factory. So my dealership ordered the individual chrome strip and informed me when it came in and replaced it free of charge. Normally the dealership will not put this on the car unless you have an individual version, but I'm sure if you pay for it they will order it for you

I think he means adding something to the car that isn't a true representation of the car is cheap. Jsut my guess.

I would agree with Haydon. If you had a factory built Individual like Xdrive - it makes all the sense to have the chrome strip.

When I had my M5, you would see, from time to time, a regular 5 Series with the M5 logo on the back. IMHO, it may be a great look for 50% of the people out there, but for the other 50% that know the difference - I feel it's a bit embarrassing.

Alternatively, I know some people like the "clean" look with no badges. Most of time, it is on a 325 or a 525 (just by noticing the exhaust and rims). I think in these cases, they want you to believe it is a different model. I say be proud to own what you own - BMW's are terrific cars no matter what you drive. Sometimes (*cough* rarely) it's not about the horsepower - but the dynamics of the car.

I always have to laugh when I see BMWs (or other brands) with badges that clearly do not belong on that particular model. Like today. I saw a 318 de-badged and instead he put an ///M3 badge on the trunk. I wonder if in his mind it makes his car go faster

I agree with all the comments about badges... but I have no issue with someone putting individual or M style wheels on the car... as long as it looks good.
