I haven't looked too closely at the market right now but if they're still in that ballpark I don't see why anyone would pick a GT4 over it unless, like I said, they just have to have a manual. And my 991 GT3 had a warranty until the end of 2019, not too shabby.

Alas, I traded it for a Huracan and got on the waiting list for a GT2 because I wanted even more power. But the GT3 is absolutely nuts and by far the most fun car I've ever driven.
991.1 GT3 prices are indeed softening. Likely more so when the 991.2 GT3 (in manual) is announced. Even still, for me 30k is still a sizeable chunk of cash in my book and is what precluded me from springing for the 991.1 GT3.

That said, I'm very satisfied with the 997.2 GT3. Puts a stupid grin on my face everyday (it's my daily). Cliche I know, but the sense of occasion, rawness, and visceral engagement has me longing for no other car in the foreseeable future.

The engine in the 991 GT3 seems prone to failure. Drove one at exotics racing, the upshifts and downshifts on the pdk were amazing. Found Ferrari and Lamborghini very underwhelming after that.

GT4 is the mid engine rear wheel drive cayman with a 911 engine that many craved for, esp those who felt the cayman was a better platform than the 911. The ride is harsh though and the overhang in front is easy to scrape.

You're still talking $40k-$50k and I'm not sure it's that much better. Some will argue the point but at the end of the day it comes down to what you want from your sports car. Again, flat out speed isn't Porsche.

Agreed....but the daily driving aspect will be more fun with 385hp and the incredible manual. Exploiting the limits on the street could never happen in either car, but man is it fun trying the GT4 when you have a nice open spot in Mexico ...........Phil

991.1 GT3 prices aren't softening. I am in the process of selling mine and after 4300 miles I can still get sticker, probably more.
The 991.2 GT3s aren't even announced and the first allocations are going to be really tight.

One of the few things you can exploit on the street is power.. Accelerating fast (without speeding) is fun, having plenty of power on tap in any situation is fun. Over the years I've just become used to having 500+ HP cars, and I can't imagine having anything less than 400HP.

R8 V10 would be amazing. GT4 is pretty sweet to. Tough one but I would go with Audi in this comparison.

On the streets a Cayman S is 90% of a GT4, and a 2014 with low miles and good options is like $50K. At $100K, the R8 V10 manual is a great buy. Unique engine with Italian heritage.

With patience, it is not hard to find a low mileage GT4 for $100K, but that car is way more fun at a track, especially with the gearing.

Sub 15K 991 GT3s can be found below MSRP, especially those without buckets, but with the PDK, that car is almost useless on the streets. The sweet spot in that engine is 7-8K in third gear, which is jail time.

Seriously, I would do a Cayman S or GTS and save the money or do the R8, which is a quasi exotic.

Manuals are dying...V10s also dying...a Cayman with some GT3 parts and standard 991 engine? They will be making those forever.
