Well yeah; it's lighter and routing power to all four wheels with more weight over the rear axle. That's an expected outcome when comparing the two on straightline acceleration from a dig.

I hope we see some big comparison tests with this car. And as cliche as it is, a POV 'Ring video would be fun to watch.

Saw a gray convertible at the Tampa auto show a week ago. Was surprised to see that the carbon fiber ground effects don't translate as well in person. Usually cars these days look better in the metal. All the ornaments looked a bit overwrought and not as sharply detailed as I thought they would. Not that you buy this thing for looks though.

Ha...pretty fast. Good one. The Turbo S benefits from awd and a perfected launch control system to get those acceleration times from a dig. As you can see where the Z06 extra hp/tq come into play is from a roll, like you know on a road course.

Otherwise every performance measure is in favor of the Z06.

Turbo S has the 1/4 time but the trap speed is less. Also you can see from a roll (5-60, 30-50, 50-70), the Z06 has more grunt.

Turbo S get murdered in lateral G and braking. Isn't even a contest. Z06 set C/D records for a production car.

911 Turbo S
C/D TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 2.6 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 6.5 sec
Rolling start, 5-60 mph: 3.8 sec
Top gear, 30-50 mph: 2.1 sec
Top gear, 50-70 mph: 2.3 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 10.8 sec @ 126 mph
Top speed (drag limited, mfr's est): 198 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph: 144 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 1.09 g

Corvette Z06
C/D TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 3.0 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 6.8 sec
Rolling start, 5-60 mph: 3.2 sec
Top gear, 30-50 mph: 1.7 sec
Top gear, 50-70 mph: 2.2 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 11.1 sec @ 127 mph
Top speed (C/D est): 185 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph: 128 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 1.19 g

So congrats Wolf, Porsche makes a good awd system and launch control.

I agree. I'm a huge Porsche fan and a Porsche owner. However, the 911 Turbo S is just under $100K more than the Z06 Vette.

I love Porsche products too but good grief.
Every time someone posts great looking introductions you come in and chicken hawk the thread.
It's great you are a devoted P car guy but there are so many great brands to choose from...for everyone and every taste.

It's a good thing.

NO! Z06 looses the top gear roll from 50-70 to the GT3 by .1! GOSH! What a slouch!

Kidding aside, great video and the performance for the cost is outstanding!

Not what you'd expect? AWD vs RWD has been covered.
Wait till you see the delta on a race track. The Z06 is $105K and the TT can definitely go over $200K. It will be spanked by the Z06.

Here is a quote from Autoweek:
Two minutes later a white Z06 rockets down the hill at turn 12, its V8 producing a shriek not heard all day. Despite the high heat and being driven hard already for many laps, and riding on tires with a fair amount of running on them, the lap timer flashes 1 minute, 29.8 seconds as Pilgrim crosses the line. Info pulled from the onboard -- and must-have for track drivers -- Cosworth-developed Performance Data Recorder’s telemetry shows a 1.5 lateral-g spike. Consider: a Camaro Z/28.R’s pole-position time at Road Atlanta for October’s IMSA Continental Tire Challenge Series race was 1:31.6 -- and the Z06’s lap time puts it within three seconds of the slowest qualifier, an Audi R8 LMS, in this year’s Petit Le Mans’ GT Daytona class at the same circuit.

When you realize a good set of slicks should knock four or five seconds off the Corvette versus race-car delta, the day’s final result isn’t just interesting as anticipated, but rather shocking. Of all of today's series-production performance cars, if you measure success by lap time, the Z06 is a remarkable achievement. The fact it is equally at home on quiet public roads on the way to and from the circuit, or as a daily driver, make it outright astounding.

M4 Coupe with a few options is 85K... Not even considering the cabrio that the Z06 you can argue is...

dollar for dollar value, if you don't need rear seats the Z06 can be compared to the likes of R8, 911, Ferrari, etc. for the price of an M4...

1.19 g !!!?? that is crazy... American muscle is back.

Well, the Z06 is running Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, which is essentially a street-able track tire, so a +1.1g in lateral acceleration is kind of expected... GT3 runs on the same tires, that's why they get similar later G. Turbo runs on pilot super sport, which doesn't grip nearly as well as the cup tires.

Nonetheless, the corvette is serious bang for the buck in terms of performance.

Good point.

It's certainly got to be the best bang for the buck out there. Not a fan at all of the look whatsoever myself but I'm sure it will appeal to a certain buyer.

Beefier structure for the removable roof (for more sales) and better crash testing. Heavier e-diff, better interior materials are often heavier, more insulation, more electronics, etc.
