Exclamation 2016 7 Series (G11) Drops Major Camo

BIMMERPOST NEWS
G11 7 Series Drops Major Camo

COMMENTS

The next generation 2016 7 Series (G11) has dropped some major camouflage, revealing its overall body styling.

The major styling components are now revealed - body lines, kidney grille shape and size, headlight and tail light shapes and yes, the hood cutline has indeed been moved back down to meet with the kidney grilles!

As usual, the next 7 Series will be a showcase for future BMW technologies, both in physical construction and its technology.

We recently showed you the first look at the production interior, which included the next generation iDrive, including for the first time ever, a touch screen. The new iDrive may even incorporate augmented reality via the HUD.

Construction wise, the 7 Series is expected to be the first series vehicle to use Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) in major key areas to reduce weight, and thereby increase efficiency. As the use of this material will be a key selling point for the new model, it makes sense that the exact weight savings will remain guarded information until we are closer to the full reveal.

I don't know what you guys think, but I reaaaally like it. The back not as much as that front, but I am glad they finally made a sporty and aggressive looking 7 series!

Now that BMW has decided to have one platform (35up), I'm more interested in the engineering of the car than what the final product is going to be. If this is going to underpin future BMW's, the importance of the G11 7er is going to be more than whether or not the 7er is as luxurious as the S-Class and A8.

This is looking promising! Nice headlight shape, headlights into the kidneys, no clut line for the hood across the front of the car, nice looking proportions, hofmeister kink and nice looking L shaped tails.

Can't wait for the reveal.

Looks really promising... If not with slight hints of skoda octavia in the headlight shape. Could well be the best looking 7er yet.

I don't know about you guys, but I think that the front of the thing, under camo, looks a lot like an E90 LCI sedan! That's why it looks so good

I quoted JustinGTP because his avatar is a beautiful E90 LCI photograph. And because his observations are spot on!

This looks like it might be the most aggressive 7 series since the e38 740i M sport. I'm excited to see the final product the last designs have looked a bit bloated.

So this is it more or less. Not bad but I don't see much VFL influence on this. Not adventurous enough imo but still OK.

So far so good. Although i stand by my previous statement that I feel the interior will be a disappointment, especially in this price point, but I think exterior wise with M-sport package will be a great looking sedan.

I really like the rear end of that render. Front end? No.

Mirrors look like they are straight off of a Honda Accord.

Mixed Feelings

On the car; looks like a great step forward in in balanced shapes. The lines are clean dynamic. I do wish it was more dramatic like the vision luxury concept car though.

The interior; I'm wishing again for a bit more on the style side although I know the tech will be a generation ahead of its competition. Also, BMW should somehow figure out a away to allow customers to use Apple or Andriod mobile apps if they wanted.

Information; although I get excited when I know what's coming, I am also anxious about the fact that Mercedes and Audi know and that cannot be good. I kind wish insiders would keep things more bottled up.

So funny you say this is because I was just thinking it kind of looks like an E90 LCI sedan and that is one of my all time favourite BMWs in terms of look after I wrote my post! Ha. Also kinda why I have an E90 LCI
