Eh, need better/moar pics. Especially with silver wheels. My brain almost shuts off any car with black rims with very few exceptions. The front looks like a cross between the 6 series lower side of bumper and upper half of the new X5.

I wanna know what tech they put in instead.

A lot of renders are on the internet of the 7 series. This may help us

Doesn't surprise me at all. Given BMW's recent design language, both interior and exterior, I knew BMW was going to play conservative (as usual) and it wasn't going to come anywhere close to the new S-Class. Nothing has been discussed but the G11 is probably going to be packed with tech which will be it's main selling point.

Though I am disappointed that there wasn't a more significant change in the interior - it really does look like a small refresh.

BMW 7 series, actual generation, was one of the least desirable "luxury" limos here in Europe; this is even worse.
It looks like a facelift.
The exterior design is not even premium, imagine calling it luxury )

One cannot decide if the interior is the Chinese vision of the European design or just a cost saving paint job (after they've invested in i3, i8 and all that Carbon stuff).

As said by others already, it looks like a Hyundai!

At least with Chris Bangle, the designs were interesting and different (like the E65), but this just looks so boring and bland

Rather buy this over a melted blob of wax. If people want to buy a Merc they should go buy the Merc instead of bitching and moaning about the 7 series. I find nothing wrong with this car it looks fine. It's as if they were prepared to hate this car before it even came out.

Fortunately there's a car for those of us who want a full size sedan without feeling like we're 60 years old sitting in an S class.

BMW has gotten to a level where they can build anything and people will buy it. For Example, listen to the new M4....Sounds awful and yet people love the car. So I won't be suprised to see these cars flooded in LA soon.

Ladies and gentlemen, the new BMW 7 Series.

Oh my God!

This car is great! BMW Great job.

I like a lot the design of the taillights, side profile is more elegant and refined details.

The interior is more luxurious with perfectly chosen details and controls with ease of use.

The new exterior paint finish seems to be among these: Atlantic Grey or a grayish blue, Toledo Blue.

This car is worthy of Offering a superior level above Benz S Class and Audi A8.

I own a Rolls-Royce Ghost and can say that this new generation 7 Series has exceeded my expectations, it is to enjoy it as Gods.

I am happy when it goes on sale , I'll buy one, and now will listen a song dedicated to the new 7 Series.

WIN!

I buy right away!

Again comparing to Mercedes does not make sense! Mercedes new design appeals to another demography, the lines and cues are too different to those that BMWs are!

In short Mercedes design looks more and more Alien like in those alien spaceships in sci-fi movies!

BMW still follows a sharp, clean and minimalistic design!

The S class walks to the podium in a Tuxedo, takes a bow and throws a confident and victorious smile at the teary eyed 7 series, sitting in the audience, dressed in a bathrobe, flip flops and hair curlers.

I'm hoping someone at BMW leaked this to the public with the intention of public reactions persuading those in charge of this car's development to change direction.

idk why I care so much because I'll definitely be looking for a P car next. Maybe I'll return to BMW when I'm more mature. That seems to be their target market anyways.
You may be right and I have to agree with the majority here it's not a very impressive start.

The car looks so similar to previous designs and the problem with taking safe bets is that customers get bored !

Honestly, don't you guys get sick and tired of every single BMW needing the same old tired Msport treatment (same damn bumper regardless of if it's a 1 series or an X6 to boot) in order to not look like complete ass?

It would be nice if BMW could make something that stood on its own in the looks department without the same hammered to death Msport package recycled 5 million times for every model.

Anyway the outside looks like a boat, the inside looks like a 320i. I'm sure Scott will be along soon to tell us how the 7 isn't comparable to the S class and A8, and how it's a "driver's car" with it's 4-banger engine (lol), as if that's somehow an excuse for lack of quality materials on a $100k car when the W205 C class craps all over this in terms of interior materials.

What is BMW thinking? Who is actually going to buy this? No enthusiast wants a 5000 lb car with a 4 banger, and nobody who wants a luxury car is going to put this above the German competitors in the price bracket. Yeah this car might start cheaper than an S, but it's very quickly going to be north of $100k with the options a car at this price point should come with standard.
I see your point and agree somewhat. My e90 is SE and I have to say that was the last of the BMWs I preferred the look of the front bumper in non-sport guise (though IMO the rear m sport diffuser looks better than SE). Since then SE etc not been looking so hot IMO

Having said that I like what I've seen so far and the rendering looks pretty close

I think it's still too early to judge the exterior design. Any car would look bad from the angles the pictures were taken. The render above looks promising.

The interior is underwhelming. I don't like floating center consoles. It just makes the interior look less substantial. I also dislike the fact that the interior concept is just a copy of the 1 series and 3 series interior with some more refined detailing. It doesn't feel like a very special place to be.

On the upside, there is a feeling of lightness and elegance to the interior of the G11, which makes it very different to the S Class interior with its wall of lcd screens and its ultra wide anti-glare dome. Personally I find the S Class interior a bit overrated. Surely the quality of the design is fine but for me it's too conservatively styled.

We are judging this by some crap quality photos, in a weird environment and in transportation mode.

I need to see better pictures.

It does make sense. It is the comparable car in the price range and category. Always has been compared S vs 7. Demographic may or maybe no be different but more a subjective mix. What are you talking about?

New 2 week render looks nice but hardly a new design if it is true (front end). The pictures are disappointment both outside and especially inside. More iteration that redesign. Like it or not this is not a step up from like the current (old) F01 as it was with the previous design.

Only the side vents disappoint me. Otherwise, first impressions for me is that this is the best looking 7 series in ages. I think the 7 should be boring. I've disliked most 7's since the bangle butt.
