USAA question

So i really wanna get USAA as i hear they have great rates.

So say I marry a chick that has USAA and then I become a member. If we then get divorced what happens to my membership, is it still keeps?

Once you're a member, you're always a member. And FWIW, I've had the absolute best service from USAA!

Great service, but their rates are typically higher (Auto/Home loans, insurance etc.) You get what you pay for I suppose. Good luck!

Yes, USAA is a little more than competitors, but they more than make it up in customer service and responsiveness.

Bonus: annual dividend!

I have usaa and this is not my experience, in fact I have found them to be substantially cheaper at times. their financial products are more costly than others but I checked my m4 insurance w/ usaa versus several others and usaa beat everyone.

Usaa is the best insurance, good banking but skip them for any loan. They will not compete for loan rates at all.

You also are qualified if you work for USAA.

They're offering a .50% discount on loans taken in connection with their car buying program. I'm saving $2k on my M2, and just locked-in a loan at 1.99% (which includes the .50% discount). I'm thinking that's a really good rate. Should I shop?

I always get pre-approval through them before I go shopping. That way, it's all ready to go and I only change if the dealer can beat whatever terms I have lined up.

Back when I joined, USAA was only open to military officers. Three days after I graduated OCS, I joined up. One of my best "military benefits". I think USAA isn't as good as it once was, but that's the price of growth. I don't want to leave them, but figure within 5-10 years, I may begin shopping around.

Also, I have several thousand dollars in my subscriber account. The only way you can get access to it is if you cancel your car insurance. And you can't come back for at least six months. When they pay you annual dividends, the check they give you is just a portion of your return back and the other portion goes into this invisible subscriber account. They send you a balance for that once a year.

They also pay dividends to senior citizens over age 65! In 2016, I got $140 for dividend and $700 for senior discount.

I use USAA for insurance and Navy Fed for money. Both are good.

I'm pretty sure you have to totally leave them or die to get that SSA money. Many many years ago, my wife got a DUI and we had to leave USAA for a couple years and went with progressive. we didn't get paid out because we have other accounts with them. We also learned our lesson, and either drink at home or Uber/Lyft everywhere, for the last 21 years!

Weird, me too. I've been with NFCU even longer.

my next door neighbor told me about 10 years ago that he refinanced his mortgage through NFCU at a great rate, so I went to the local office. I at one time had an account with them, but it lapsed. They told me that even though I had been in the navy, since I was no longer and not a reservist, I couldn't have an account anymore. USAA mortgage gave me a better refi anyway. While I have accounts with Vystar (Formerly Jax Navy FCU) and Delta Employees CU, I generally do all my banking with USAA.
