Looks a lot better than the leaked photos that were posted earlier! M Sport is the way to go as always. Just a shame that M Sport still retains the terrible hockey stick along the side.

Overall I think it will do well in its first year or so as early adopters pick it up but I just don't think BMW went far enough with this design. As a result, it will likely only appeal to existing owners -- if you want the ultimate expression in BMW style, the 6 GC is still the way to go.

I have a feeling that the G11 won't age well as it's essentially an evolution of the F01 which is already dated. Even the interior design didn't go far enough. Audi claims the next-gen A8 will have multiple displays similar to the Prologue concept, with very few physical buttons. I was hoping the new 7er would go this route too, especially since scott26 mentioned a secondary display for the front passenger.

Equally disappointing, the preview posted at Car and Driver mentions that the US market won't get the standard wheelbase version -- long wheelbase only. The gesture control only worked "1/3 of the time" in their preview vehicle, and things like the self parking won't be offered in the US either.

Overall while the new G11 is nice, ultimately I don't think it will change the status quo for BMW in this segment.

With that said, I guess so much for hoping the next generation BMW M5 will be able to drop 400lbs! Lol!
Outgoing 750 xdrive is 4745 not 4475. Not drastic (135 lbs lighter) but we are moving in the right direction at least.

With exception of the extended boomerang not bad, but it doesn't stand up to the S Class

We will see the secondary screen it is important to keep the more important stuff for last.

Get used to the Hockey stick as BMW have addressed criticism that current air breathers look stuck on so now combine the breather with additional trim so it looks less stick on than before. You will see this on many forthcoming BMWs.
Such as this render of the next generation 4er.

No it does not stand up to the S-Klasse... It outclasses it in every way possible.

As for this one, definitely better in these pics, and looks like M-sport would be the way to go for me.

I can however, agree with you that the E38 is still by far the best 7er ever made. I love that car.
You nuts mate. I can never see myself selling mine. I am thinking of major detail to bring the paint work back to showroom condition and even if I do get another seven this one will always stay. And the arse looks even better. Those 19´s are bmw best wheels ever

I want you guys to post a pic by pic with the S class. There is nothing special about the S class design. And the wheel choices on the s class are boring. This looks way more futuristic than the s class.

There will be a V12 using a version shared within the Rolls-Royce Wraith but developed for the 7er.

Its legislation that they must be set higher and more visible.
Everybody is now adapting to this.

Not very impressive. True the info came from outside sources but we were expecting highs 1700kg not 2 tonnes. Dissapointing. Much like the exterior design. More cf next time?

Lets just pray that the G30 will look radically different than this, not just a baby G11, let alone the next 6.

No sure about all that CF propaganda, pretty much the same as Audi A8:

A8L 4.0L = 2010 kg
A8 4.0L = 1955 kg

And still too heavy:

Jaguar XJ 5.0L V8 Kompressor = 1873 kg (no CF needed)

Great news then on the secondary screen! I'm eager to see how you guys pull it off!

I guess I must be in the minority, as I actually like the current air breather. It's simple, and functional. That 4er render looks nice, and I think it would look even better with the current air breather.

Oh well, at least it's toned down in the M Sport version, which is what I always get anyways!

Have they never seen an s550 prior to designing this piece of crap? Why would anyone buy this over an s class? Nice technology but who cares if the car looks like that.

Lol we complain "air breathers" look tacked on because, well they do.

So to address this BMW tacks on not just a boomerang but a hockey stick? Tell me the logic behind this?

To me the best looking vents or air breathers was the E92 M3
