Anyone else hate when other guys call you Bud or Buddy?

Is it just me?

I feel like its so condescending. Same with "pal" or "big guy". I had someone call me that, to which i replied "whats up small guy" and i never heard him say that again!

I think "my friend" is worse... It's cringeworthy... No friend of mine is going to say - "how are you, my friend?"

Haha. So much hate. Depends on who it is and the context. For me, the "bro" phenomenon is the worst. It does not make you sound cool. In forums and stuff, with tongue in cheek, I get it. But IRL, nah.

Coming from a military background this is a very ingrained word to me.
People I know or associate with are my buddies, same for using brother, in full.
Don't use bud much and bro and bruh are just for messing around.

I think you're reading way too much into this. It's obvious when someone is being condensending, I mean seriously, we're now taking issue with the word "buddy" and then we say the PC movement is out of control getting offended by everything.

I like to call others Skippy. It feels condescending when I call them that...which is cool. I only do it for folks I know well.

Best friend gets the nod for Slapjack or Cramrod.

I think it's regional or cultural, I get called "boss" a lot by FedX and UPS guys...maybe cuss I'm old but happens a the grocery store as well...never any intent by the way they say it that suggests disrespect. I think how someone speaks is more important, the rise or fall of the voice rather than the term used carries the meaning more than the words they use. The non verbals are the important part about eighty percent of the meaning is how the person looks when they call you something. Most people have a built in BS meter and can see or feel the difference when disrespect is the intent. My 2 bits

Depends on who or in what context/situation.

'Brother' is a term I've used and had thrown at me, but only by folks I have a good working relationship with and have been through some sh*t with.
