Flat Run Flat Ride Quality = Inflated Run Flat Ride Quality

Shortly after leaving my dealer, I received a low right rear tire pressure message, and by the time I got home, the tire was flat!

This was my first experience with driving with a flat run flat, but I must say I now know why the ride quality of run flats are so bad… There's next to no difference in ride quality between a flat and an inflated run flat!?

While handling is somewhat compromised up to 50 mph and obviously compromised above same, the ride quality is no worse!? I couldn’t believe it!

Thats why a lot of guys just get rid of them when they change tires. I did with my SRT8 and have every intention of it with the 750. Talked to a rep at Tire Rack and they suggested the Pirelli P7 Cinturato A/S+ non-run flat over going back to run flats. Supposedly they ride better, stick better, handle weather better, and cost about half. Perfect. Gotta make sure you have Emergency Road Service though, 'cause if you get a flat, you're going nowhere, though I guess you could always get an M Mobility kit.

That's exactly what I've done. My M5 has the M mobility kit, and I was able to build one almost exactly the same for my 7. I put it into the hole underneath the trunk shelf. Now to be honest I don't trust the M mobility kit in either vehicle so if I am going on a real road trip (more than say 3-400km) I just throw a winter tire, jack, and tools in the trunk in the off chance that I do get a flat.
