Well, sooner than I expected. Dealerships are receiving the Z06/Z07 C7s already. No invoice or EPA rating on the cars so they are stuck at the dealerships. But a couple have been let go to their owners, like Rick Hendrick (though he paid $1 mil for it) and another owner saying he's in good relations with his dealership so they'll let him have his.

First time I've seen a car like this being delivered to the dealerships without any factory invoice or EPA rating.

This is true. Invoices should be had tomorrow and cars will be given to customers.

Mine is built and on a truck otw to the dealer. Will post thoughts soon.

Not bad. 585 rwhp and 617 rwtq on a dynojet. Bone stock, manual and just 20 miles on the odometer. So far, it puts down more rwhp than ZR1.

$1.8MM McLaren, $1MMM Plus La Ferrari's, Porsche 918, $500-$600K Aventador, Huracan, and ANY other super car Performance for a $73-$100K GREAT looking Vette.
The above super cars cost up to $30K for (or nearly 1/2 of the cost of a new Vette) for just an oil change.
Thre McLaren has to be FLOWN to England to have it oil change- Who does that?? I know, the super rich who don't care.

I'll Take my ZO6 down the street to my friendly neighborhood Chevy dealer for the $89.95 Oil change-thank you.
The new ZO6 is the AMAZING engineering feat and bargain of the Century.
FYI- I have NOT owned a Chevy in as long as I can remember so purist I am not. Just reading about all these Supercars for years and watching the never ending out of the stratusphere costs, makes me appreciate goood old American talent.
Real talent is engineering and manufacturing the 2015 ZO6 at this price point.

I love this car (hate the look of all the aero shit though) but come on man, the bolded statement is ridiculous

this car is not even close to the laferrari in any possible way, nor should it be.

its awesome for what it is, but don't compare it to those cars because its not even in the same stratosphere

I understand what he's referring to when he's "comparing" the Z06 to the ultra hyper-cars. Don't forget, the price to insure the ultra hyper-cars costs about what a Stingray costs per year too.

Nice, the Z06 (with Z07) came out to be better than I thought.
The only thing I am a little doubtful about is the claim the new GM 8L90 8-speed is quicker or even on par with Porsche's PDK...

I saw a review online of the Stingray Z51 equipped with the automatic 8-speed, and the gear changes were much slower (and slightly lagged) compared to the PDK or DCT. There was at least half a second delay between when he pressed the steering wheel levels until the car changed gear. In the M3 for example it basically feels instant. Maybe they'll tune the gearbox more aggressively for the Z06?

Regardless I still love the Z06. But if the automatic is not excellent I would get the manual, even if it's slower.

So far, only the manuals are out. The autos will be out sometime later. I would think they would have the same trans but fine tuned for the Z06.

I believe that is already known, going by the test data of the magazine reviews. The ZR1 also had slightly higher traps than new Z06 in testing. The C7 Z06 power is all down low, for the track. I am not completely up to date on the Viper vs Vette wars of past. But has the Z06 ever been consider faster stock vs stock? I know the Z06 gained more hp, but it also gained 200lbs over the C6. Also doesn't help the the Z06 needs a driver mod. Interested to see how 8-speed helps at the strip. Either way, two incredibly quick cars at great prices.

~170 lbs more actually. But the tests show that its a fast car up until 120/130 mph, then the ZR1 and the C6 Z06 start to catch up and pass the C7 Z06. But the C7 Z06 has put down some outstanding numbers in the handling and braking department. 1.19 lateral G's on the skidpad and around 130 ft braking from 70 MPH with no understeer and no signs of brake fade. The cars suspension is very fine tuned.

Viper vs Vette wars.....the Viper has been faster in a straight line but never the road course performer, stock for stock.

Back to the C7 Z06, over heating issues are starting to come up. 4 laps on Road Atlanta and Randy Pobst had to bring it the pits to cool off. And the driver of the video above, I read he is a very good driver. There is word about GM making the ECU/ECM tuned to control the car and not let it perform 100%.

This is a misinformation. Just ask the McLaren dealers. All McLarens fully serviced within the US. I just checked out the 650s. There are some relatively good deals going on especially on lightly used 12c and even on new 650s.

I know they said that aero definitely plays a part in the acceleration, especially when you get into triple digits (the full aero package cost either Motor Trend or Car and Driver about 10mph on the back straight without aero). So the full aero will definitely pay dividends on the track, but in straight line it'll hurt (not what is was ultimately made for).

I wonder how much HP the Z06 would make if they ran the same boost pressure that Merc runs through the CLA/GLA 45 AMG (26psi!)?

Its a smaller blower, spinning 5k rpms higher than the ZR1s making just a tad less stock PSI. I think 9.4 to the ZR1 9.6 or whatever.

I've always heard 1 psi = 10rwhp. So in theory....an extra 166 rwhp but if they are having heatsoak issues, then they would need to solve that first. So in theory, an extra 166-190 rwhp.

The car is shaping up to be a big disappointment to those on the corvette forum. I am a C6 Z owner and I am glad I held onto it seeing as it is modded to make over 600rwhp on motor only and I see no reason to jump ship at this point. They put a small blower on it for packaging reasons which is why it is overheating. They have to spin it harder than the blower on the ZR1 to make more HP so the natural result is more heat that cant be dealt with by the tiny intercooler it has. It is basically the same blower that came on the ZL1 and my Friend dumped his ZL1 after 6 month because of the heat issue and got a used C6 Z after I spanked him hard when my car was still bone stock.

The heat issue is also a big factor I am guessing as are many others as to why GM has not reported any lap times from the Ring. The car will certainly heat soak and go into reduced timing and added fuel mode to protect the motor most likely before even the half way point seeing as after 4 laps of a track like Road Atlanta it is having issues.

Trust me there are some guys that bought it that are regretting it. When summer comes around the issue will only get worse.

There are other issues with the LT4 motor and the exhaust port design. The A8 is slower shifting than people were hoping for as well. GM may have an updated program for this soon though. I have heard rumblings that GM has been testing a DCt gear box at the ring recently. They couldn't find one that was the right size and also handle the Torque of the motor. I know some of you will say that is BS when other cars have DCTs like the Aventador and F12 that make more HP but they also make ~150lbs of torque less and torque is what kills transmissions and rear ends. It sounds like they may have found an answer though and found one that may work out. It will likely not make it in until the 2016 or 17 model year.

According to LMR and Vengeance, the cooling system is actually pretty damn good with IATs staying very stable run after run.

Its the tune holding it back, which shouldn't be a surprise given GM's need for the car to last for the long warranty they have.

GM hasn't put out Ring times for anything since the botched Z/28 run. Not having a Ring time for the C7s because of heat management is hilarious at best. They're still putting down blazing laps stateside and still using the track for other adjustments and validation. Over the past 6 months we've seen the Z/28, C7 Z51, Z06, Alpha Camaro, and both V Cadillacs run hard at that track. To think the Z06 couldn't put down a few fast laps because of anecdotal stories doesn't make sense.
