Where can I get OEM parts?

Can someone give me a few suggestions on where I can get some OEM parts for a good price? Perhaps some site sponsors?

I need to replace the hydraulic top motor on a family members Z4.

You should probably post this on Zpost, another Bimmerpost forum dedicated to the Z3 and Z4 models: http://www.zpost.com/forums/index.php. There are several threads there about replacing the hydraulic pump for the top. Try searching there first.

Call Brian in the parts department at Sun BMW in Mechanicsburg. He's off until Monday but he will definitely get you what you need for the best price.

there's no one stop shop for the cheapest parts. It all depends on what you need to buy.

There's a pnp comparison tool out there that compares dealers online pricing with 3rd parties.

google: bmw pnp parts search tool

FYI, there's a reason by this forum blocks this website and I cannot post the link here. The forum is supported by paying vendors such as getbmwparts, ECS, etc. While I love those guys, the forum is also anti-competitive in ensuring others don't advertise here unless they get paid. (I'm also a vendor supporter, to date, I've spend well over $2000 of orders from getbmwparts, until I found out they weren't the cheapest. I still do jump on their oil change kits from time to time when there's a promo).

For many of my maintenance items, huskerparts is the cheapest with BMW of Fairfax coming in 2nd. The vendors provided by other rarely registers in the top 5 in the pricing comparison.

Also note, the value may be distorted by each vendor's shipping policy. Some have free shipping over a certain amount, others charge you flat fees in order size increments, etc.

Disclaimer: I do not own the pnp tool, I am simply a user. I don't even donate money to the developer of the tool....

+1 for BMW PNP. It searches many of the reputable dealers for OEM parts. Remember, the dealer with the lowest part that you're searching for may not have the lowest price for a different part.

The PNP does not factor in shipping, so the shipping costs can affect the final costs. If you're just ordering one part, it's best to check one or two other dealers with the second lowest price with shipping to see if it's lower.

If you are ordering different parts, once you've identified a handful of prices from the various dealers, you'll need to build your cart and factor in shipping/sales tax to see which dealer would offer the lowest price.

just curious, after running pnp, where have you generally been buying your parts? I find myself often buying from Huskerparts. They tend to be marginally cheaper than BMW of Fairfax for large quantity/priced items. (this taking into consideration shipping).

I've only bought from getbmwparts when they have a special promo for a packaged deal (usually oil kits) and only b/c shipping was discounted. But oil is sold and advertised everywhere, so every dealer has to be competitive on pricing for oil. But these days, I often don't buy full oil change kits b/c I always have extra bottles left from larger orders and a few years ago, I ordered 5+ filters to complete an order to get free shipping.

Also, recently I bought a complete brake replacement set from huskerparts for my E70 X5. It was hands down the cheapest for me after doing comparisons for about half hour (the shopping cart method).

Yes, same here. Husker has great prices and I've generally only ordered from them. Ships pretty quick too.

Now, I typically buy the Manufacturer items from ebay or Amazon instead of the BMW branded ones since it is cheaper. I have an Amazon Prime card so I'd get 5% off the price as well.

ebay usually have coupons for $10 off $50 or $15 off $75 at the end of the months/quarters so I can buy Mann filters for oil change in bulk from ebay seller partscontainer, 10 for $75, after coupon, it would be $60, so $6 a pop is a great deal. Or you can mix and match coolant, brake fluid, etc.

+1 for Huskerparts. Vic is great.

I've also had very good experiences with Scott at BMW of Schererville.

New parts?

BMWPARTSPROS.com has better pricing than getbmwparts.com

For used parts... look at auctions. What are you looking for? I may have a lot of parts soon!

You want Armando Diaz Jr of BMW Manhattan - wholesale. He's on Facebook and the prices are unbeatable.

I was looking for a hydraulic motor for the convertible top on a '06 Z4, but thanks to this thread, I ordered it a few days ago. I still appreciate the suggestions as I also just ordered new brakes for our E93. I'm only interested in new parts.

+1 on BMWpartspros.com aka Steve Thomas BMW. They ended up cheaper than Tischer/getbmwparts, even though I'm paying taxes with Steve Thomas BMW (they're in CA, I'm in CA)

Go to each of the links in this post then bookmark the links in your browser. You can even put them all in a separate folder called "BMW OEM parts".
