Pure bullshit. Two guys notorious for their snark-fests announce they prefer the Mercedes early on, then proceed to eviscerate the BMW (getting their facts wrong along the way). Why let the truth get in the way of schtick?

As someone who has driven both cars and owns one of them, I love the S-Class. It's a fantastic car, and it does some things better than the 7-Series. I could easily understand why someone would prefer it or consider it a better product.
But I have never seen a comparison trash the new 7-Series this much. Even in other matchups where the S-Class wins, and does so on the back of legitimate advantages, the 7-Series was never so insulted or viewed as unfavorably. It was certainly never called "cheap" or viewed as behind the times. Every other professional organization (and many non-professional organizations) with the opportunity to review, no matter which one wins, call it a close contest. This video just seemed like a list of the things the S-Class does extremely well pitted against the things the 7-Series does just a little less well, plus some personal preferences presented as facts, with a few questionable assumptions and assertions thrown in. It's a video for fun, and we can't take it too seriously. |

I've driven both cars (indeed, the S was in the running when I was deciding what to buy), but at the end of the day, the BMW philosophy prevailed, so that's what I went with.

When I was deciding between these two cars, their features and performance were close enough to be deemed (by me) equal.
That said, I chose the 750 because it was slightly less flashy, and because I really like touch screen navigation/controls. I pick it up Monday in Oregon and immediately embark on a 6 week road trip back to Maine... |

It's seem like C&D and Motortrend have bias against Bmw. In many reviews they focus on the little detail they don't like and make up a 3 page story with it. I wonder if it has something to do with publicity revenue. Especially Johnny who is a joke by himself.

I guess the choice between the two is a matter of personal preference. Mercedes wins the luxury side and Bmw come on top for the driving dynamics. I'm still too poor to afford either of them but I guess that would be my final choice.

I have not bothered to watch that video even for a second , having read your comments I am glad I have not wasted my time even for a second .
Besides, such people must be unbiased when making comparisons , and these must be processed by mind and logic not commonplace ,trite words

Picked the 7 couple of months ago, like the fact that it offers 90+% of the luxury of the S yet can go all out into sports mode when need to.
The S having a midlife facelift next year doesn't help. |

I have to agree with this video. It was "real world" and demonstrates exactly what I have said since the G11 was released. It is indeed a Nice Car! But the the S Class is that much Nicer. I've been up close and personal with both. And particularly insider is where the $$$ is very evident in the Benz. I could not believe the Benz is a paltry 80lbs more that the 7 with all of this talk and badges of "Carbon Core".

Here's why I don't put much into that comparison. First, everyone other media outlet has praised or have said positive things about this generation 7er, especially the advancement it made from the F01. So right off the bat, they were over exaggerating a lot of their points. But I wanted to know for myself. Was able to sit and be driven in the back of the 7er today. Bulls--t you can't get comfortable in the rear. Right when I got in the rear, the seats were so soft that I sunk in just enough to be supported yet be in total comfort.
Now that's not to say that the 7er is more comfortable than the S-Class. It probably isn't but just say that. Don't over exaggerate and complain that you couldn't get comfortable. The 7er is plenty comfortable, but in comparison, the S-Class probably does it a bit better. |

Their (beaten to the ground) crossed-arms posing trying to be hip on that slope just reeks of "we're too cool for the room"...next, please. Pfft.
