Picked up my new M760i this week
Picked up my new M760i this week. One the most amazing driving experiences I have had the pleasure of. I can't seem to get rid of the grin that gets bigger with every green light. The torque in this thing is really unreal. Hop back in the X5M and it now seems sluggish, rough and noisy.
While the sound from this V12 is great I think they could have let it roar a little bit more. Looking to see what options are out there for performance upgrades specially an exhaust that lets this thing grumble a bit more. Went the full dinan route on my X5M but don't think they will be messing with this car as there are just too few of them out there or at least in the hands of people that would add mods to it to justify the development. Here is a little car porn. Have not had time during daylight this week to get some good pics as I work nights but got some today. Went out to get some shots and it was snowing. Actually think they turned out pretty good though. Introducing my X5M to its new best friend. Play nice now boys. Last edited by LZR; 12-08-2018 at 07:44 PM.. |

Welcome to the forum LZR , fairly new myself, some great rides and info on here, look forward to hearing more about your experiences with your new beast. ^
Lovely car (and X5) , not usually a fan of black / black combos but on the 760 it is such a monster even I'd love it. Your pics are going to cause a lot of envy not only for the car but also for the vast amount of space one has in North America both in terms of land usage/price but also just how nice things can be. (your driveway in front of the house makes me really question what the hell I am doing here in the UK when I could be in Canada and having a lovely two car garage with plenty of land and wide roads, parking spaces, less traffic volume, etc... Thank goodness your pics show snow! (not sure I could handle it otherwise! ) Safe travels, lovely car, pics and again welcome to the forum and to the land of 7... |

Thanks for posting this magnificent photos
A pleasure to see it and considering a view is feast to eyes I can see how enjoyable driving it to unleash sheer power during acceleration Happy Days

Funny you say about the driveway and garage Pelo Cat but that's exactly what I was envious of as well. So much space and tons of lovely roads.
Awesome car of course, very nice. About a month and a half until I have my M760Li. Interesting you say it makes the X5M feel slow as I've an F10 M5 now. The M5 feels faster however I know for sure the speedo doesn't climb quite at the rate the M760 does. That car just masks it's speed and acceleration really well but it's definitely the faster of the two cars. |

Anyway my cousin following me back in the X5M from the dealership when I picked up the M760i. Gave them quite a few good head to head runs and keeping in mind the M760i has only 14 miles on it so it so it should also get a bit of a bump after it gets out of 500 mile break in mode. For the most part they were neck and neck 0-80 or so+++ with the M760I just a hair ahead on every run which for the most part it gets right off that bat and holds with the X5M equalizing about 20-30mph. So not sure what to make of that. I will say I was actually a little disappointed when I got my dinan exhaust put on my X5M. Was hoping it would have a bit more growl for the price but not sure what you can expect with just a cat back system so probably just setting my self up for the same minimal effect looking for an exhaust upgrade on this one but would like to see any that have been done if they are out there. |

With regards to the E63S and M5 I think they are both amazing cars. Reviews of the E63S have it as very good and the new M5 also I think is getting good early reviews. I've seen and sat in the new M5, the front seats are really quite special. However as both are new cars the deals on them are poor to non existent. The M760Li is the better deal and ultimately much more car you get for that money. I think you'd have to want the smaller, more nimble chassis to pick either of those over the M760Li. Quote:
Anyway the M5 can take the roundabout corner that bit quicker or at least I only had the M760Li for a short while so didn't take it as quickly. However the M5 is struggling for grip so while it can go around quicker it's holding the acceleration back until the road almost is fully straightened up. Then it'll shoot off and it feels properly rapid. The M760Li took the corner a bit slower but it's no traction issues so it can start to accelerate that bit earlier. It's not a lot because it's a short bit of turn until straight but clearly 4 wheel drive is helping there. At full load it just doesn't feel as rapid as the M5 however it beats the M5 by a comfortable margin at the speed it's going by my landmark. It is quicker, it just does it without any drama to the point it just doesn't feel like your going quite at warp speed like the M5 feels. Amazing though that it gives a 700bhp X5M a run for the money. Also I guess your not doing a gentle break in period? By the way this video shows it up against a Porsche Panny Turbo E-Hybrid. The one with around 680bhp I think which I would expect to beat the M760Li but it doesn't appear to. There's almost nothing in it which pretty much matches what your saying so it might well be under rated. Quote:

[QUOTE=LZR;22802492]
Not a big fan of red and my only experience with tan leather looked terrible after a few years so stay away from light colors. My last four cars have had black leather and they have held up well through ownership. The M760i color is called Carbon Black Metallic but it is very blue. It has to be dark outside to think it is black. Yeah, black will be a lot easier to keep clean and show less scuffs, etc...I do love a light interior myself, especially on a dark winters day. Love the carbon black metallic, in one of your pics you can see the blue metallic shade come through, I really like it when a colour changes depending on the angle and sunlight, intensity, etc... A lovely choice you and 325_bucks have chosen. ^ Quote:
and thanks to FastLaneJB for the video link on night vision, may have to give that a consideration next time...Love the fact that the big luxury yacht can give an awful lot of cars a go for their money...Long live the sleepers! |

I almost pulled the trigger on a S65 last year as I wanted to get a V12 but then I started looking at the M760i and started thinking in that direction. Maybe I will trade it in when they do a twin turbo V16. Came across this and does seem they thought about a V16 at one point. https://www.motormag.com.au/news/170...manual-created Hey if this crazy monster power trend continues you never know. Would be sweet. Quote:
It's got to be considerably underrated. Hopefully someone will dyno one before too long. Man I have always liked the look of most Porsche cars but have to say I really don't like the look of their Panamera body. Quote:
Got some more pics on the interior lighting. I really like the violet. |

Amazing pics. The speakers also really do look very swish. Only had it during the day so not seen the car at night yet. |

Stunning pics of the interior lighting LZR, thanks! ^ (some great car porn!)
Agree about lilac colour, looks very nice, seems with both dark and light interiors, I do find it 'cold' personally so only use it sparingly but will try it more in the Summer months as it is a nice colour and a good change from the usual blue (my preference) and also slightly easier on the eyes than blue when driving in dark conditions I find. (not as good as orange mind you but a bit better than blue). All those colours look stunning in the V12 (except green which I still find personally to be very jarring!)... Properly jealous now! |
