Questions about Rear Seat Entertainment.

Hi there, I'm from the uk and I'm on the hunt for my very first 7 series
I will be buy used im leaning towards a 2010 or 2011 730d/740d

I'm going through process of finalising my options requirement,

So....

Who has it?

How do you value it as an option?

Is the functionality as good as the premise?

Those with children is the feasible to use this as the primary source of rear entertainment? As opposed to things like iPad

Are all source available to all idrive devices
E.g.

The rear DVD be selectable as a viewing source for the front idrive,
And vice versa.

Many thanks

I like gadgets, so I like it.

Just keep in mind there are two rear entertainment systems:

The professional has a rear Idrive controller. The standard had only a remote control.

In the states, we could only get the standard until recently.

My 2013 has the rear Idrive controller. There is a lot more functionality, plus, it has a groovy interface to a multi-user nav system.

Both system will let you watch DVD from front DVD changer on all screens, but the rear DVD can only display on rear screens.

You can easily hook up an iPod or iPad to either professional or standard rear entertainment systems via apple composite out cable.
