Went with Liberty Mutual. They offer a discount on BMW's as well as the OEM guarantee above. Hopefully, peace of mind for a small bump in price.

THANKS ALL!

You must have a lot of accidents or tickets???
I live in NJ-that's cheap here!

Some of you guys are happy because you never had to file a claim. I know 2 people that have had problems with separate insurance claims and it's with the big companies mentioned here. One of the guys had to file a complaint with the state before the insurance company paid him his full value. Some of these companies have shady practices.

Check this out: http://www.badfaithinsurance.org/indexdetaillist.html

I have Amica and they allowed me to replace my cracked windshield with OE BMW glass without any hesitation. I do pay an extra $30 a year for OE part coverage.

Interesting that Allstate is #1 on that list for bad faith. I've had 2 encounters in my ~13 years with them, one for renter's insurance (got a check within a week) and one for a car accident (I was rear-ended, other driver claimed fault). Aside from my refusing the first offer to get a value I was happy with on my car (totaled), everything went pretty smoothly, I had my first check within a week of my acceptance of the 2nd offer, and I got my deductible back later. Perhaps they were just "easy" claims or they already feel they've gotten their money's worth out of me

State Farm is higher but always been pleased with service and they have covered modified parts and value for them. Well that has been my experience.

This.
I won't even say what I'm paying.
I have 2 more vehicles than listed in my signature.

Well, with just an i8 I would assume your premium is insane.

All the carriers you mentioned are very similar in the coverage and service they provide, which is to say...about average. They're middle of the road carriers for mid net worth individuals. Fine, but not great.

If you want the right to use any repair shop you like, a guarantee of OEM parts, broad/high limit cover and quick, hassle-free claims settlements, you'll want a high net worth carrier. It'll cost more, but that's the way it works. Possible carriers to check out:
  • Chubb (now owned by ACE)
  • Fireman's Fund (also owned by ACE)
  • AIG Private Client
  • Crestbrook (new carrier out of the Southwest)
  • PURE

Good luck
