BMW 7 Series Recall

http://editorial.autos.msn.com/blogs...9-0c0b21b26657

Does anyone have any updates on this?

Has anyone received notice to bring their cars in yet?

Nope not yet, but that's interesting to know.

Wonder if that's something that's causing my aux water pump to have this faint but noticeable humming noise. It's noticeable when I drive the car and don't have any music playing (which is most of the time). It's a humming noise that is sort of in the background and has a short interruption roughly about 0.25 to 0.5 seconds long every second or so.

----.----.----.

- represents about 0.25 seconds of humming
. represents about 0.25 seconds of interruption/silence

I've asked them a few times about this noise and they told me that there is nothing they can do about it...

I'll definitely ask them about this recall next time I bring the car into the shop (which should be in just over a weeks time)...

Does the noise occur when the a/c is off?

Yep. The climate system is on auto but the A/C is disabled. Fan is usually on very low setting. No radio or music playing and during normal traffic, especially when the car is standing still, you can hear the aux water pump and once you know what it is and you know it's there, you hear it ALL the time

That's not what I'm saying!

If all climate control is off (fan to zero, no temperature on lcd), does the noise still occur?

Wonder why there have not been any notices yet. Is it all the 7ers during this period or is it only going to be some?

@dbs600: I'm pretty sure the aux water pump shuts down when you turn all (4 zones) of the climate controls off (when the display is turned off and all functions are shut down). I'll check it tomorrow morning when I drive the car again and post if it's different, but I'm pretty sure that's how it works...

I have 2011 750 LI xdrive.

I pressed the SOS button and they connected me to BMW.

They said my car was not on the recall list.

I will check again in about two weeks.

I had the shop foreman check their system and see if my car was among those that would fall under the recall and to my surprise it doesn't

He showed me on the computer screen while he checked for applicable recall notices, what has already been replaced as part of previous recalls and if there were any outstanding recall notices and all necessary replacements have been completed

This is assuming the recall notices have actually been entered into the computers. Has anyone even gotten an actual recall notice?

When I talked to the shop foreman, he told me that he saw the actual recall notice and that cars that need to have the auxiliary water pump electronics replaced have a notice in their system, so when some one brings their car into the shop, and a recall notice is in the system, it will pop up the second they scan the key...

Water pump recall was performed on our 7 prior to pick up as part of the CPO process.
