I'm a big fan of Anchor Old Potrero, as it's younger and more crisp than many of the older and smoother alternatives.
Just read this one, and of interest was that the Angels Envy (same great base stock 95%) was aged 18 months in Plantation XO Caribbean Rum barrels. I know there are a lot of fans of that rum on here.

Yeah, resellers are certainly capable of doing things with MGP base stock before bottling it. I just tend to avoid those on the list in order to support the folks that did the leg work. Anchor makes some really good, young ryes that taste nothing like the MGP stuff.

Thanks for that link. Interesting article. I may have to track down some Angel's Envy.

Went to the Abbey tonight. Most popular gay bar in West Hollywood (our company is at the heart of it).

Huge ass strong ass drinks. I'm liking it. Minus the gay dudes. But I'm not homophobic so it's ok. Lol

Here are some of the Whiskys that I current have open (left to right):
  • Caol Ila 15 yr old - Sovereign bottling, bottled 1996. Great balance, I love this Whisky!
  • MaCallan 18 yr old - distilled in 1986. A lovely gift from my lovely wife!
  • Glenfarclas 25 yr old. Good, but I think the 21 and 17 yr old are better.
  • Springbank 15 yr old. A whisky of impeccable balance.
  • Lagavulin 16 yr old. Another old friend that I almost always have open.

Sipping some blackberry cider at McMenamins in Portland. I started with a local Hefe but just couldn't do it. All the last 4 days I've been pulling blackberries off the vine so I guess it's apprapo that I get smashed on blackberries the last night in town

Lure them in with a bit of sweet nectar, and before they know it they are doing belly shots.

I see you're from PA, (so am I originally), which is where Michters started. Have you ever tried Willett's, or Michters Sour Mash?

Ahh yes, pineapple. Definitely up there in the "manly fruits" category.

I like Scotch, straight...none of these diluted with fruit liquors.

*Beats chest*

I'm just giving you a hard time for making fun of the ciders.

But I do like my scotch neat. And I'd be more inclined to try the plantation straight, rather than pineapple, because that's just how I prefer the hard stuff I've found.

But I like ciders too. I'm an equal opportunity drinker.
