What are you getting the gf for xmas??

I'm running out of ideas for Xmas. We've been together for nearly 15 years and the surprises keep getting harder and harder each year. Help a fellow member out and throw out some past ideas.

Thanks!

Maybe time to get married.... 15 years and still the gf? Damn. Hahaha me and the wife don't do gifts for one another. We just do a nice dinner out together at Ruth's Chris on xmas eve every year. This will be our 10th year of doing it. It's perfect. No stress over what useless thing to get her or her to get me. As adults, if and when we need something, we get it ourselves. There's not really anything she could even get me that I wouldn't just go get myself unless it's crazy expensive.....

Well some more background of your relationship might help you get more ideas. History of previous gifts, her likes and dislikes etc.

Regardless, this is not in the right forum section. Go to the OT.

We both have kids from our other marriages. You don't need a ring for commitment. We'd rather spend the money on our family and vacations together.

There you go. Maybe spending the money to a little getaway if both of you have the time off around the xmas time.

Pots, pans and a ol' school Kirby vacuum. That'll teach her.

Try getting nothing for her and agree she does the same....then do something nice for someone that needs some Christmas spirit.
Think of the Christmas movie Scrooge.

Agreed - more background is definitely needed here. I'll also put a vote in for an experience vs an object. That being said, sometimes it's the really simple things. I received a pair of extremely comfortable sweatpants one year, and they are the highlight of my life.

They never get sick of jewelry. The "go to" gift when you can't think of anything else.

Experiences - my wife seems to like tix to concerts or shows I dread but she likes. Shows you are willing to sacrifice for one night. (Also helps justify season tix to your favorite college football team.)

Ditto for us minus the Ruth's Chris dinner.

I can tell you what not to get:

-Jewelry
-Perfume
-Makeup
-Clothing
-Handbags

Let her pick those out for herself unless you've been shown a specific item.

I wish that were true. Don't get married if you are doing it for perceived tax benefits.
