I did this on Saturday and it was a cool experience. To have the car brought to you for a test drive is a new and innovative way to shop for cars!

The car they brought me stickered for about $130K - and was beautiful. Too big however for me (especially since only avail in the long wheelbase now). Still I enjoyed checking it out and ordering the test drive via the uber app!

PS - had to drive it in sport mode, the steering was just so over boosted in comfort mode.

PPS - that new key is HUGE!

PPPS - Gesture control is gimmicky and so damn cool.

PPPPS - Was not impressed with the Bowers & Wilkins stereo. Thought my B&O sounded much better.

Does BMW think the average Uber user will be a potential 7er buyer?

Well to answer your original question yes, I think so (I use uber all the time and am a potential 7er buyer).

Alas, the goal here was to use the app to bring the car to you. Which is a really cool way to do it.

There is an Uber 'Lux' option in Los Angeles that has a driver pick you up in an S class, 7 series, A/S8, Jag XJ etc etc.

I tried doing this on Monday... They were definitely keeping the cars in nicer areas. Played with the map a bit, and the 7 series option would pop up around Brentwood, Bel Air, Beverly Hills, the nicer parts of Downtown LA etc even if there were no cars available. But if you mapped over to a less expensive or more sketchy part of town, the option to try and even request the 7 series would disappear completely.

That is great that you use Uber and you can afford a 7er, however, you are most likely not an AVERAGE Uber user. Average being the key word. Average.

you cant program something like that.....something new into an old car. Infact you cant really program anything "new" into your car.

coding allows you to "activate" things that's been disabled on your car.

there's a more technical explanation, but this is the easy definition.

Thank you for the definition of "Average" - I had no idea!

And, I don't think you know what an "Average" Uber user is - but I bet Uber does.

I do know that just about anyone I can think of, in terms of my friends, who can afford a 7-series, takes Uber when possible. From and To Airports, at conferences, and when going out for a night on the town. Does this make us "Average"? No clue - but Uber knows.
