The nav system in my e65 2008 was so much more accurate than the new 750xdrive. But, the new nav system is far more intuitive. The coolest thing is being able to enter your address verbally. And, the second coolest thing but more useful is the google interface...it is brilliant for finding places.
But, the new nav system does not draw the exits in the same detail as the e65. This confuses some drivers. I think I heard BMW no longer uses navtech. That is a shame since navtech was good. Except it has always been a real pita getting your hand on the updates! |

I wish I could report issues like this to the data provider like the update feature on the Navteq website. I used this feature on Navteq's website in the past to update them on a new bridge that was build around the area I work in and the next map update had the corrected/updated data, made me happy

Wow what are people thinking. The F01 7 is way mor engaging than the S. I have an 03 745i, an 05 S500, 11 750i and drove the s550 before I bought the new 7. No comparison more power in the 7 better handling and better finish. Also keep in mind the new S will be out later this year and should bring some nice bells and whistles.

I mean it may just be a difference in a opinion.
We had an '04 745li, and an ;06 750i. Then we got a '07 S550, since the body didn't really change much till '09 on the 7, and it didn't make sense to get back in the same car for 3 more years (lease) Admittedly, it was very hard, to leave the 7; since we are die hard bmw drivers. I didn't really like the S at first, but after a few months, it really turned into a dream. And then this past year, after driving the 7 on three different test drives; including one that lasted a weekend; we went for a 2010, S class even though it was pretty much the same car minus some small changes. 7 series is an awesome car, but i think MB won on this one. Just a different feel to the S.

I remember that we could verbally enter an address on our '04...then again it was a real pain lol.

Drove both back-to-back during one of the recent US Olympic Team events, and must say I far prefer the exterior and interior styling of the 7 Series. And the handling is much better too. I drove an S550 and an F02 750Li.
In my opinion, the interior of the Benz was a confusing morass of overly glossy (read: distracting) wood and chrome, and the switchgear was counter-intuitive. And that keypad under the flip-up palm rest thingie was just in the way. The exterior is just plain goofy looking. The Benz features the previously maligned "Bangle Butt" from the 2002-2008 7 Series and looks as if it's got it's tail tucked between it's legs (cowering?). Just strange. It's as if the S-Class was designed by Klingons, while the 7-Series was designed by the Federation About the only "wow" feature in the S550 that I wish the 7 Series had was the active side bolsters in the front seats. When I tossed the big S550 into the corners, the bolsters instantly cradled me in the seat. Quite a neat feature. But, then again, the damned thing leaned so much into the corners that these bolsters were required. If they'd tuned the thing correctly, they wouldn't need a fancy seat to keep you planted behind the wheel So, I ordered an F02 7 Series. Get to pick it up at the Welt in September and can't wait!

There is one thing and one thing alone that draws me towards the 7 series over the S class.
Active Ventilated, massaging, 20-way multi-contour nappa leather seats. Argument over. |

Have you used the seats in the S class? They are way nicer than the 7 series seats. Active ventilated, massaging, and a true MC seat, with position control.
