what size custom wheel is the biggest i can get without impacting the ride of a 760li?

We have done numerous 22" setups on the previous generation 7 Series and a few of the new F01 but we recently did a 21" set up which looked great and also allowed for there to be more tire and not be so "rubber band-ish"

I'd go with a max of 21 too, unless you want to be replacing your rims every few months.

I went from 19's to 21's, ride was firmer but not harsh... then lowered it and it is still good. 22's just seemed not to have enough tire to handle any rough surface... I figured BMW only goes to 21's and that was good enough for me.
