Benz has more presence. 7 interior and exterior design is very underwhelming for a car that's north or 100k.
saw a 750li M sport side by side with an S550 Amg sport line.. the 7 had more presence.
To each his own - I just think the 7 roofline is a little bit awkward and the kidneys are a bit oversized and don't love the connecting headlights.

I've been a BMW guy my whole life as well, just disappointed the 7 has become increasingly numb over the years.

Too bad the 7 is ugly and boring. I wouldn't spend my money on such a design when there are so much better ones. For 100k I want everything to be great, no compromises, otherwise I would have bought a cheaper car.

Had a new 7 in my rear view mirror two days ago with the LEDs and I must say it looks damn good! Pretty sporty looking much better than the previous gen.

Stripping it all down, it shows the generation gap between these two cars.
The 7 is a modern well balanced car, the MB is classy and luxorious, yet old and heavy beneath all it's glitter.
Well said. Each have certain elements that give them bragging rights over one another, which is a testament to how great they both are. However, to my eyes (and this is totally subjective) the BMW ticks all the boxes for me.

Agreed. And regarding the interior, some have said the BMW is too austere, and not as "luxe" as the Mercedes. I say this was a deliberate choice by BMW. BMW purposefully chose "modern luxury" as their target, and I think they've nailed it. The interior has a clean uncluttered mid-century vibe which totally appeals to me -- especially when contrasted against the lavish MB S-Class interior. Don't get me wrong, the materials in the Merc are exceptional, but there are so many conflicting surfaces, shapes and textures the execution feels (again, to my eyes) a little boujie. Think boudoir vs. clean, modern living room.

So true! I've only seen one on the highway, and it wasn't an M-Sport model. If that "pedestrian" model looked great to me, I can't wait to see an M-Sport package-equipped G12 on the highway. Better yet, I can't wait until mine arrives (BMW Genius says my car is going into production next week!!).

Everything Mercedes does (especially in their car interiors) is designed to do one thing:
Impress the heck out of Kim Kardashian.

Why isn't there an option for ARS on the new 7 series?

I just sat in a new 750i, it is nice interior for sure, but after all those stories of premium interior and 100% premium material inside, I got really disappointed to discover that paddle shifters are made of plastic (at least from the back side, the side that you are touching with your fingers)!!! How is this possible...?

S today is a tough choice since there will be a LCI (Face Lift for Mercedes folks) next year about this time. They are ditching the Cadillac front end from what I have heard. Ready to pick up another sedan and it's between S and 7. 7 is growing on 'us' but I wish they had done a bit more in terms of exterior styling. I don't need it to be as plush as the S inside but would like to have seen a bit more aggressive styling on the outside.
