Which would you rather have? BMW i8 or Audi R8 (MKII)

The first company that will do a hybrid right at a reasonable price point will be Porsche with the 911 hybrid. The hybrid RSRhas killed it in racing and once they get that into a street car it's going to be something else. The 991 is gorgeous inside and out unlike the i8.

I like cars in general, but just because I own a BMW I do not have to "pick" a BMW every time the BMW forums ask my opinion. I am not a hater, just stating my opinion. I believe most people are like that.

A lot of people also have 2 cars and not necessarily BMW makes the best car in every category. For example I am now looking for alternatives since I do not like the new generation M3. However, Audi nor Mercedes do not have any good products in this segment yet.

So I ask you: who is the hater here? Who states their opinion or someone who says Audi is a glorified VW?

R8 Totally, no second thoughts! Disclaimer: I have owned 7 Audis and one electric (Volt) prior to my current two BMWs.

You do realize the only way the i8 "passes by you" in an R8 is if you were in fact sitting in the R8, in park, right?

And I agree with others, just because it's a BMW forum doesn't make those of us that would choose the obviously far superior car haters of BMW. Pretty sure most of us would take a Ferrari or Bugatti over the i8 too. Doesn't make me a hater for saying so

Personally, I'd skip both...new R8 looks ugly compared to the previous one. Something looks really odd.

Totally with you on this ... feels like a step backwards ... it's kind of odd and boring. What's going on with these new German designs (R8, C63)? I guess I'm not getting the "design language".

Calling an R8 a glorified VW in defence of a BMW powered by a Mini engine is somewhat of an ignorant comment. The Audi in this comparison is built on a Lamborghini chassis that is far from anything carrying a VW badge.

I like BMWs as much as anyone, but if there's a better car for the money I'm not just going blindly take a BMW just because of the badge.
