WOW, that's a pretty big piece of legislation. Britain is a reasonably large consumer of vehicles in the EU.

This will definitely quicken the focus of the major auto manufacturers to go fuel cell and/or electric. It will also likely have an impact in other markets as well since cars are designed to be quite global these days. Very interesting.

People feel good, industry makes little to no changes at this point.

20 years from now I will run a marathon one leg. See how easy it is?

Symbolic hyperbole. By 2040 they'll be lucky to have sorted out Brexit.

Anyone remember this? From 1990-91 -

Quote:
the California Air Resources Board (CARB) moved on a large environmental initiative, ruled that each of the U.S.'s seven largest carmakers—the largest of which was GM—would be required to make 2% of its fleet emission-free by 1998, 5% by 2001, and 10% by 2003, in accordance with consumer demand, in order to continue to sell cars in California.
Sounded good at the time, never came close. At the time some part of the general public flipped out. Still not at 5% 16 years after they proposed it should (in 2001)?

The U.S. EPA has outlawed shitting in toilets by 2040.

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."
