My new 750i activehybrid

Friday pulled the trigger.

Specs:

April 2010 production, June delivery

2011 Active hybrid 750i (F04)
465 HP (according to BMW almost the performance of a V12!)
Sophisto Grey Exterior
Dakota Red barrique/black interior !
High Gloss Wood trim anthracite
253 Style - 20" Wheels
Every possible options, but excluding: Nigh vision, LCD back, surround view (they said available for order as from June/10, bummer).

Also, standard "hot weather package" and "Poor fuel quality" options. Guess a must here

I am soooooo excited !!!

This is my 4th BMW (325i, 325i, 540i) after taking a well spent break for nearly 5 years, when I took the Porsche route (Cayman S).

As I said in my previous post, I live in South America and the options available at this time are limited for the new F04. So I took every one I could from the list, excluding 2 that for the price and practicality did not find appealing.

Yes, I order red barrique leather without seeing it in the flesh, my dealer had not samples or photos available at the time (I am told to be the first one ordering it and hardly any info was on hand at this time), but I saw a couple of pictures in another thread and I was sold. I hope this color really does it for me when I see it in the flesh. I am 42 and a kid at heart so I want to go the sportier/exclsuive route, and I believe this new color will enhance this experience. There are no individual choices available as I aslo like the merino alternatives, specially the Cohiba. There is no sport package available. Only the shadow high gloss, ceramics and the sport wheel.

I also asked about "Roll Stablization" and they said this is not available due to the engine configuration and hybrid technology of the car. I am not sure why, and I hope I am not missing too much. Not that I will to take the car over 100mph in a curve, but I guess wont hurt having it either.

I was also not sure if the front camaras for the side view are available at this time, but I hope these are standard. The dealer had no idea, but I don't blame them since they got the specs just this week, and if I wanted a April slot that I had to do it ASAP.

I will keep my Cayman S for another couple of month (of course) and then sell it to make room in the garage. I will surely miss it, what a great car it surely gave me plenty of smiles these past 4 years.

As I mentioned in my earlier thread, here import duties are way high, ordering the standard 750i would cost well over $230K, so by going green I save close to half. So, its a deal for me. Surely not a cheap car, but this is the car that I have been desiring since for my heavier traffic commute and grown up kids.

So now the wait begins ! Oh well ....

Saludos

COCO

Congratulations on your order. I'm sure you are going to love your new car

The side-view camera package should be available as it was available since introduction of the F01/F02 models. The top-view is a new feature to the 7 series just introduced in the 2011 models and that's probably why it won't be available on yours until the June production...

Reading and posting on this forum helps kill the 'waiting' time!

Wow congratulations on the the order!

What do you mean by "saving close to half by going green?" I can't imagine your government or BMW (or combined) subsidizing nearly 50% the cost of the car?

I'd appreciate it if you could please let us know what you mean by that. Thank you.

bdardashti there is a new license to import a certain number of hybrids with no import duty as "green incentive". Problem is allocation. Otherwise a 750i would cost here well over $230K.

Oh wow, that's nice! I'm guessing BMW is going to sell a relatively large number of AH7s in Peru.

Congrats Cocodrilo - you were active on the Caymanclub at one time, right?

Do like I'm doing - buy a lift, keep both cars!

nd750 .... absolutely. I haven't post anything on CC for a while ... Now its all over again... good feeling.

So how do you like your 750xi? Different beast huh ?

I wish I had the space (and $) to keep both cars... Cayman has to go unfortunately. Served me well tho.

It is a different beast, but not totally foreign. I did my track Driver's Training in an A8L, which gave me a new respect for the capabilities of a big sedan. It was, however, the impetus to get my Cayman 3 years ago, and now, 8000 track miles later, I'm hooked.

750 has great performance in a car I can drive easily all year long and take the whole family in.

+1

Why the 750 and not for example the AMG63 or 65? Just curious. For me, I am a big BMW fan, started with my father.

North Dakota. 130 miles from Canada. 6 ft snowdrifts in my front yard.

When I was bringing the car back from the dealer (400 miles away), we got stuck in an unexpected blizzard. 750Lxi with snowtires = no problemo.

If I wanted a 2wd sedan, I'd consider a 760 or an AMG Benz. After being in the BMW though, a 760 or an Alpina would probably win. Mercedes doesn't have the same driving passion of a BMW I'm finding.......

Congrats on your new car!

I look forward to more pictures too

If at all possible, would you mind taking a picture of the inside of the trunk? I am interested in seeing how much trunk space the batteries take up... Thanks

Its been 48 hours from delivery, so far about the car:

1) Its a fast, quiet missile. I am coming from a modded Cayman S, I tell you this car is no slouch. My gut dyno says feels like 500 HP+, pulls as hard as the croc, but in first class. Not careful enough you end up going 160-180 km/hr in seconds. I am serious guys, this car a is a blast to drive.

2) Interior, top notch. Way better then the 400H Merc I saw the other day. Well done BMW.

3) Idrive, computers, etc, fun fun fun. Lots of playing around, specially with the TV and the IPOD integration.

4) Voice control... very nice.... this option is a must. Best gizmo so far. Still havent figured out all 500 or so voice commands available.

5) Did I say, fast?

6) LED display, incredible, ceramics controls, nice feeling, superb addition. Another must.

7) Roll up shades: Nice addition too, tho kids get to play with it ....

8) Auto H..... love it. No need to press brakes under stop and go traffic. Genius.

9) Remote start A/C.... awesome. 2 minutes all it takes to cool down from 32 C down to 25.

10) Man this thing is fast..... Merc AMG 63 fast or more

I still have to figure out Sport Drive and the sport / sport + options. When and when not to press it. What if I want just better throttle response and not stiffer springs? Sports D?

More to come....

If you would like to have a better throttle response and no stiffer springs. Keep your car in Comfort and push your gear leaver to sport.
