Gorgeous classic from back when. BMW E9 2800CS with HRE 501's

Been a few years since we've seen this car, but every time I come across these photos I tend to stare for a few minutes. Figured I'd share and let you all stare for a bit too.

Thanks for taking a look! Hope you like it just as much as I do

Beautiful, just wish it wasn't so slammed.
Any interior photos.

Since BMWs are built to be drivers cars, especially E9's and such other 1970's era BMWs (where it earned that reputation), to go slam an E9 like that is in poor taste IMO, it looks like shit, and is stupid.

They make civics to get slammed, not classic BMWs.

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Pulled this from the very back of our flickr account but didn't see any interior photos.

Its a real tragedy, the car is beautiful and the wheels looks great on it but now it looks like the owner eats paint chips.

The front fender side grilles should have a blacked out piece behind them. And they should be chromed.

Forgive me, but the car is a slammed mess which was carelessly resto-modded.

The wheels look close to late '70s early '80s BBS Basketweaves and look great, but this restoration is a waste of what is a great BMW chassis that is getting rarer by the day.

The wheels are modern knockoffs of a wheel that was introduced in the late 1970s and often put on the 3.0CS. They looked incorrect then. They are incorrect now, even in the right size.

As for the E9, there is one being auctioned off in Palm Springs in two weeks. It's a 1973 painted blue (not an original color) which was supposedly in the Crevier museum until 2011 and which has about 66,000 miles on it.

I was interested, but it's an automatic, and that transmission is very weak. Plus the rocker panels rust like nobody's business. I tried to get a pre purchase inspection at a nearby shop and was turned down. I figure it would have cost me about $35,000 to bring it back to original. And the auction house says it will go for $45,000 to $50,000. I suspect $30,000 is more like it.

But I passed. If I can't get it inspected before I drive to Palm Springs for one car, it's not worth it.
