Natural gas civic. You can also get a filling station installed in your garage.

Going to have to say GTI. My buddy has one, so much bang for buck in that car. When talking about reliability you should say how long you plan to keep the car for. 70-100k german may be on the table, 100+ leaves only the japs and maybe korean cars.

I find this interesting. Europeans tend to keep cars much beyond 100K miles, yet Americans seem to have this "it has 100K miles, time to trade it in" mentality.

I have the "it's been close to 2 years… time to change" mentality lol.

My E350 is at ~20 months and I'm dying to change it.

My SL550 is ~8 months and I'm happy, but starting to look for alternatives…(California or T maybe)

We live on credit and rent cars

Nothing wrong with that mate. I, also, enjoy something new every few years!

Pops kept a 95 s420 up until last year. First owner, always either dealer or local specialist serviced, 167k miles. He was dumping more money into it yearly than the thing was worth. German cars just don't age like say a toyota or Honda.

The Mazda 3 5-door hatch is also what I was going to suggest. Looks pretty cool. They're meant to be sporty, but I've never driven one. Why not take a test drive?

Under $19k MSRP means you can probably get a fairly well optioned one for $25k out the door. My build came out to $21,410 and that's with destination fee included. Not bad!

GTI will by far be the best bang for your buck car in that price range. As fun to drive as anything else and the interior is on par with cars costing $10k+ more...

Why does it have to be brand new? A civic with 10k on it will save you thousands and its still a new car......

VW is having a crap year and they are literally giving things away below invoice to hit numbers. Call around to a few dealers, a guy who works for me just got a nicely optioned Passat MSRP $28K for under $22K.

GTI all day long. Best all around car I've ever owned.

If it absolutely has to be a sedan, the new Accords are nice.

Base GTI starts at a smidge over $25k. Seems to be out of OP's price range.

I would tell the OP to get a slightly used one then...
