M760i xDrive tire pressure

Looking at the manual for the M760i xDrive there are several listings for tire pressure for standard 20" staggered wheels.

up to 100 mph
front: 39 psi
rear: 39 psi

over 100 mph
* without high-speed tuning feature
99/102 Y XL RSC
front:39 psi
rear 39 psi
99/102 V M+S XL RSC
front: 44 psi
rear: 44 psi

* with high-speed tuning feature
99/102 Y XL RSC
front:44 psi
rear 44 psi
99/102 V M+S XL RSC
front: 48 psi
rear: 48 psi
99/102 Y XL Std
front:44 psi
rear 44 psi

* with M driver's package
99/102 V M+S XL RSC
front: 48 psi
rear: 48 psi
99/102 Y XL Std
front:49 psi
rear 49 psi

What is high-speed tuning feature and M driver's package? What are the build codes for them?

Last six of VIN is G615201. Which set of tire pressures are applicable for Pirelli P Zero PZ4 RSC 20" tires? What are you setting as tire pressure in your M760i xDrive?

Bear in mind your market is a bit different to mine. Some of those relate to the snow tyres and we don’t really use those here.

I run 41 front and rear and they only suggest to increase when the car is heavily loaded. The sticker in the car shows these.

We have M Drivers Package as option 7ME, but that high speed tuning might be a US things. BMW Germany suggest we have the proper speed rating for 7ME cars, not basic Y rating.

Here’s the sticker on mine.

Yeah, I suggest not to overthink it and go with the door card pressures. Just remember that these are cold fill pressures.

Have you run your VIN through a VIN decoder like www.mdecoder.com?

A high speed tunning option would be something like:
  • S229A Dynamic Drive
  • S2VAA Chassis & suspens. setup"Adaptive Drive"

And ditto…look at the sticker on your door jamb…what does it list?

Very interesting. I always run 39 front and back. I run 245/40 and 285/35. I always wondered if when I went from 275 in the rear to 285 if I should adjust the pressure in the rear.

My understanding is the high speed tuning is the car coming without RFTs so the electronically limited top speed is increased to 155 mph (or close to 160).

The M drivers package has a further increased top speed to 186 mph (I believe) or somewhere in that ballpark.

As far as tire pressure goes, experiment a bit and see what fits your preference, tire (pirelli/michelin) and driving style. If you drive at high speeds often, and have decent roads, try the higher pressures. The car will handle differently. If you mostly drive around town, or have terrible roads, stick to the lower pressures for better ride comfort.

I like the way the car drives with staggered tire pressures (with summer tires) and tend to favor the higher pressures in my M760. 41F/43R are a good balance for the Michelin PSS tires. Car rotates a littler better with stiffer rear pressures. Pirellis tend to be harder riding tires so you may need to lower pressures slightly if you have them.

The listing above shows the RSC tyres with the high speed tuning and the M drivers package. RSC is BMW-speak for RFT.

M drivers package is meant to be 305 km/h but BMW told me there is 12 km/h on my model, so it could reach 317. That forced me off RTF as they wanted a (Y) rated tyre and the Michelin PS4S ticked that box.
