I doubt it's an M car, considering they gave early-production 750s to Alpina to make the new B7. The previous B7 was sold at BMW dealerships with BMW warranties, giving a sporty 7-series to people who wanted one.

Well they also sell Alpina 3 & 5 series cars in the dealerships, so why bother with M3/M5's then?

Your all missing two big things here, acutally three.

1) there has been no mention of an "M7" from anyone
at BMW ever, on the other hand they are fourthcoming
with details about the then yet to be unseen X5M, they
also admit to Tii's and future M3's, but no M7's ever mentioned.

2) look at the grills, M cars have open ducts on the sides of the center one for brake cooling and for feeding the oil coolers and so forth, the ones on this car are all meshed in.

3) look at the night camera, radar dome (not sure which it is) on the bottom left of the facia, how likley is it the M devision would allow that onto there front end in that fasion?

and final point, the 760Li is already M powerful and the Alpina B7 is already the tuned 7 everyone loves, there is not market case for the M7 at all. there was for the X5M because of the Porsche Cayanne.

I dont see what everyone is making a fuss about, dont crucify M before you know whats coming.

And they don't. Except may be in Asia as I seen some cars there with just M on boot. But neither in US nor in Europe is M on a boot of Mtech car.

just seems like a custom body kit on a new 7 to me...there is nothing covered, usually when BMW is coming out with another car its camoflauged.

Yeah I highly doubt that this is an M7.

I think BMW is finally trying to compete with Mercedes AMG and their wide product range

BMW doesn't have nearly as many M models as there are AMGs. The wide range of offerings seems to be doing well for Mercedes.

This list is by no means accurate, just my personal feeling

MERC BMW
C 63 AMG M3
E 63 AMG M5
CLS 63 AMG M5/M6
E 63 Coupe AMG M6
ML 63 X5 M / X6 M
SL 63 and 65 M6 Cab hardly compares
S 63 and 65 Only has 750 and 760 li
CL 63 and 65 No offering

It would be a tough choice between M3 and C63. Probably 50/50 choice.

I would take the M5 > E63
CLS > M5/M6
E63 coupe > M6
X5 or X6M > ML63
SL63 or 65 over M6 cab any day of the week
S63 or 65 over 750 or 760 any day of the week
CL 63 or 63 by default since there is no comparison and just because the CL is awesome

Look at the right hand side of the air intake on the 4th picture and follow the lines around the black tape. There's plenty more honeycomb to be seen under there. My money is on this being an M Sport body kit package rather than any real performance upgrade.

this could be an m5 drivetrain in 7 clothing (since they are on the same platform).

I would say this is an M7 in the works. Hybrid may share a similar hood, but see no reason why a hybrid would have such a sports bumper. If it is only an M package, then why the hood?
