iPhone 4/4S noise using Aux in E65/E66

Folks,

I guess I am wondering if this is just my car or a issue with iPhones in general. When using the factory aux in and a iPhone 4 or 4S there is a persistent high pitched whine (almost like a ground loop or engine noise from the old days) although it doesn't change pitch with engine speed when listening to music (iPod function) - doesn't seem to affect phone usage.

I have tried 3 different iPhone 4 and 4S - It does not happen with a standard iPod or the 3GS. Tried different cables, etc. No change.

I have a 08 750Li - and don't know anyone else with close to that model to ask - thanks for any info.

Place your iPhone into "airplane mode" and reconnect to the car.

Now, take a listen to see if the noise goes away while playing a song. If it does go away then it is most likely RF (or similar subsytem) interference eminating from the iPhone.

One cure would be to filter the line out cable or otherwise modify an apple av cable to connect to bottom of iPhone instead of using headphone jack.
