Question Why Is It So 'INACTIVE' Around Here...

Being a very active member on several forums, I've noticed that the activity is beyond slow around here. Particularly in the 7 Forum. I mean I see hundreds if not thousands of "views" but interaction and comments are sparse.
I have learned and shared MUCH VERY HELPFUL info online regarding this and other cars. I mean, to me that's what it's all about!

What gives...?

This forum is a bit dry. I spend most of my time over at bimmerfest now. A lot more activity for the 7 series owners.

TXS you asked the question that has been bothering me from the start.I started off here when I had my 135.That was frequented by quite a few.The 7 forum is definitely sloooow here.

I have a feeling that we have a much mature crowd here who are busy and have more important things to do.You can definitely sense that difference from bimmerfest.I still prefer this forum for some reason.I try to at least contribute some and prevent a thread from dying off.We need more members who are active here.

Gotcha. Well I mean, I may have more time just due to working from home. BUT I could still find other stuff to do besides posting in a car forum. I choose to because it is educational and fun.

I agree,Both the forums are frequented by me atleast twice a day. When no new threads pop up I guess I log out thinking meh ...nothing changed .
Now after a while if someone has anything to contribute ,they usually would prefer the more populated forum.

Our members on the 7 forum frankly only speak about their car.....unlike the Delete Pls thread on the fest.I usually do not come across random posts on the post.Whether its a good thing or a bad thing is debatable.

The articles on the post are good though.Regardless I have a thread coming up, so watch out

You are welcome to contribute and prepare for your future purchase anytime.I hung around for almost an year on the 7 and 5 forums before I took the plunge. It keeps your expectations from your car realistic.

u think its simply due to the fact that they are lacking so many models that people own. for ex, I also have an E65, but there is no e65 section so might aswell go elsewhere first. if they had more moldels more people would be here

It's simple. There are less 7 drivers than there are 1s, 3s, 5s, and Xs owners. Only a small number of 7 owners are actually on forums (maybe due average income/age of owners). Out of those 7 owners, a few will modify their cars or need help with DYI. 7 owners probably can pay others to do any work.

Only a few select breed of us 7 owners like to get our hands dirty and are car nuts. Just my theory.

Thanks guys for replying.

Definitely I know most 7 owners/drivers aren't into modding. I mean there are not nearly as many even on the road. But still, I mos ALL my cars. It makes it more personal, unique and fun!

Thanks oxscode for the compliment.

I think there are simply less active members here than say bimnerfest. In the 7 forum there, multiple active topics are always happening.

I'll try and stick around and contribute.

I agree with the thread starter. Having owned several BMWs (E46, E93 M3, now F02 7-series) I've noticed a severe drop off in discussions for this, my current vehicle. By FAR the most active section I've contributed to is the E9X M3 forum. Lots and lots of stuff happening (or happened) there -- got several tips from folks, and contributed many of my own.

This 7-series thread is a bit of a different beast. Probably due to facts already mentioned, but bear repeating (however stereotypical): 7-series owners may be in a higher income bracket which, by extension, means their work days may be a bit more taxing with regard to free time. <-- this holds true for me. When I had my M3, I was in a mid-level management position at my company, and had a bit more "free" time to hit the blogs, etc. However, I received a significant promotion (and commensurate increase in responsibility) and have next to ZERO minutes of idle time at work now -- lots and lots of meetings where decisions need to be made. So -- fewer posts

To be honest, I was actually happier back in those M3 post days. The sense of community was tremendous. But, such is life. Onward and upward.

^^ Well said my man. And promotion with increased earnings are welcomed!

Oh well... Guess I'll have to settle for being a 'lurker'....
