Android Apps

Hey Guys/Girls,

Seeing that there are tons of Android users on the board, I figured I'd create a thread where everyone talks about the 'must-have' Android apps everyone has on their phones and recommend them.

I just ordered the new Blackberry Priv which is supposed to be running Android and I am excited to download some nice Apps on it. I have had other Android phones in the past and in fact am using the S6 Edge currently, but there are always some apps that you end up missing and finding out about from the internet or other people.

So i thought this would be a good way for everyone to share what they have and recommend and that includes games as well!

I will go first;

Some must-have apps that apply to anyone:

WhatsAPP
Pinterest (very little use and my only 'social media' as I don't have FB or Insta. But great for getting ideas on various things)
JEFIT (great fitness app, has several programs that you can follow and store your work out data)
IMDB (everyone knows what this is)
Bimmerpost (obviously)
9GAG (some awesome gif's and memes for some time kill)
Zedge (great for wallpapers and ringtones on Android devices, can directly load them on the phone)
Crackberry (I like Blackberry's)
Global News
NFS Most Wanted
Vector Full (Parkour style game, pretty fun but frustrating at times)
The Martian (game based on the new movie)
Songza (awesome for playing music according to your mood and what you feel like)
Shazam (helps identify songs you don't know about)

Other than that I have your standard utility apps like banking, news and shopping.

Let's go guys, share some of your apps that may give the rest of us some ideas!

It was worse before but after the update it's half decent.

Google Rewards is like a survey app that google send out questions that they basically use to sell to marketing companies to target ads specifically to you.

You answer stupid questions like "when was the last time you visited Michael's?" and get paid in terms of credit for the play store. It's not much like anywhere between 10cents to 90cents per survey.

I've been using it for a while and right now have racked up a $14 something balance.

Except for some of the self-explanatory ones, a little description of what the app is all about would be greatly appreciated!

Garage List
Let's see,
  • Money stuff (Citibank, Capital One, Mint, Venmo, GWallet, Starbucks, Square Cash)
  • Waze (I'm 3K points away from king)
  • FiveStars (rewards cards type thing)
  • Games (My Boy! [Game Boy Advance emulator], Mortal Kombat X, Solitaire, Sniper 3D)
  • Bunch of music apps (Pandora, Songza, DI.FM, Rock Radio, RadioTunes, Spotify, TuneIn, GPlay Music, even Audible)
  • Social Media + Messengers (FB, SC, IG, Twitter, WeChat, Skype)
  • Wunderlist (To do list)
  • Fitbit (even though I don't own a device yet; it's for calorie and water tracking when I do decide to get back on my diet), Noom Walk (gyroscope-based pedometer)
  • UberConference (conference call manager), UStream
  • MS Word, Excel and OneNote
  • Yelp
  • Gentle Alarm (works great; I rarely wake up groggy)
  • WhitePages ID (for the unknown calls).
  • Fake GPS (hope my girl doesn't see this post )
  • CyanogenMod calculator (MUCH easier to use than the built-in one, but isn't awkwardly out of place given Motorola's propensity to stick as close to AOSP as possible)
  • Uber (in case I'm stuck somewhere)

...Yet I'm surprised my battery can still last into the next afternoon.

Worth every penny; it's so far the only app I've ever purchased (minus game DLC's ) ... It (sorta) works with your circadian rhythm with a 2-stage alarm where it sounds a lighter ("gentle") alarm before your set time. If you are in light (REM) sleep, you can hear it and wake up easier, but if it's a deep (Non-REM) cycle you'd sleep through it, but the 2nd stage will ring at full volume no matter what (but set to gradually increase from a whisper instead of a sudden "BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP MOTHERFUCKER!!!!" to avoid giving you a damned heart attack or even strictly speaking, an adrenaline rush that'll make you more tired when it dissipates).

Also if you're anything like how I am sometimes where I've gotten so tired that I wake up 2 hours more than intended and have no recollection of shutting off an alarm I've specifically set, it can be set to solve a puzzle or math equation sufficiently complicated so that it gives you enough consciousness to be at least aware that you're trying to shut the alarm off.

I got it pretty much right after you mentioned it and I am quite enjoying it. I see how it works. Although me not being the morning person at all I tend to sleep for a bit after turning it all the way off too but I at least have semi-consciouses so I don't fall back asleep properly. lol

If you fly often, your favorite airline probably has an app. American has a good one that flight tracks and keeps you up to date on changes. Plus I like IM+ to keep in touch with Wifey.

Cameraless is good for disabling the cameras unless you need them. I've used IR Remote to turn down the volume on the annoying-as-hell TV in my doctor's office. It plays drug company infomercials endlessly. Barcode Scanner can be handy when you're shopping to check prices if they're not listed on the package or shelf. I have the Fedex and UPS clients to notify me of deliveries. If you're a photographer, The Photographer's Ephemeris is a very cool app to tell you where the sun and moon will rise/set. It even changes the map image as you move around.

Network Signal Info Pro is great if you have any need to check the local wifi strength. I use it to find low signals or dead spots in our campus wifi network.
