Exclamation Just Took Delivery of: JBL XTREME (the Best Bluetooth Speaker search ends here!)

Just took delivery of this beast yesterday and all I can say is, WOW or is that WHOA!!! This wireless and bluetooth speaker is phenomenal! I bought this sight unseen after having read about it's upcoming release here in the states months ago. I have also had great experience with JBL products previously. This speaker system replaces a very good bluetooth speaker I currently owned for a couple years: Supetooth Disco. But this JBL makes it sound like laptop speakers! The clarity of the mids and highs is outstanding and the bass/punch from the woofers are very impressive. I can tell you that it can be easily heard outdoors for a gathering at a park or poolside! Indoors it's like having a component system in a room! Did I mention that it can charge 2 devices while playing to keep the place rocking for HOURS! The overall package is water resistant as well! It has heft to it so you know it packs major hardware.
As it should for a cost of $300! I am xtremely pleased!

Veering off subject there boss. Seriously, if any of you like me, enjoy listening to music from your phone, tablet or even BT capable Laptop, and having it portable, this bad boy deserves your consideration.

Weight means nothing. Manufacturers will often include large chunks of lead or other metal in their devices specifically to give the impression of quality.

Beats headphones are big on doing this.

Having said that, If you're happy with it then that's great.

The only thing I don't like about bluetooth speakers is that you have to have your phone stream to it all the time. Also the range is not that great (at least on the cheapies I've used. I'm sure its better on these big ones). That's why I like my Play 3 however down side there is it needs to be plugged in and within your WiFi range so can't really take it to the beach or something.

Fortunately for me I don't leave the house.

The more expensive bluetooth speakers have great range! My previous had zero issues 15ft away from my devices.
Yeah I know weight doesn't equal quality always, in this case, yeah, it does.

My dad bought one of those Bose SoundLink things and I have to say, although Bose is normally garbage, I was very impressed with it.

Yeah my Dad has a Bose Soundlink as well and it sounds great.

I have no use for a totally portable device so I have my whole house hooked up with Sonos. I have a Play:5, a Play:1, and an Amp to have it play through my surround and my outside speakers and couldn't be happier. Can't say I've ever heard a JBL product that impressed me.

People do keep raving about the Sonos stuff. I might look into it a bit more...

My brother has the same Sonos setup as your good self. It is great for his house.

I did not have the same needs : I just wanted a portable speaker to move between my kitchen and dining room. I got the Bose Sound Link Mini II in July :

Very happy with this for my needs. Sound clarity is excellent and the tonal range is very good for a speaker of this size. It's small size dictates that you will not get immense base - but for my room size - it's simply not needed.

OP : you are happy with your product choice - is all that matters. Well done : looks nice.

Thank you sir! I have heard that Bose and this one as well. Both are impressive as a portable system:

A couple years ago I had to outfit our sales guys at my former co. with a portable bluetooth speaker that would fill a conference room as they were traipsing all over Europe doing pitches. I went to Best Buy and spent like an hour playing with everything they had out (JamBox, Beats, Bose, etc.). The JBL Flip was my final pick by a long shot. Beat the CRAP out of EVERYTHING on that display.

The Flip was also considered by me until I read of the forthcoming Xtreme.
