I suspect the six month trial period is optimistic on his part. His job has stupid hours and almost certainly lots of out of town travel. Six months for him would well be actual face time equivalent to about three or four months for rarely-/non-traveling folks.

We should hire her as an independent contractor.
No capital gains, we could probably state the 10k as a gift, and then he'll still be under his annual exemption or can add it to his lifetime gift exclusion (which he'll probably never hit, at least in recorded amounts) and then no one has to pay taxes! Everybody wins!

if it really only costs $10k or less for 6 months of GFE... that is probably a hot deal. Add in about $3k for mortgage and $500 for utils per month and another $1k for expenses like foods/insurance/etc... and you have a very practical monthly budget. Maybe $1k budget for your car expenses per month and you have a good system in place that could be sustainable. afterall divorce is A LOT more expensive. Plus the girl can get her pill for free at planned parenthood since she is an independant contractor. I'm sure if you try you can even write off some of the residence as a small biz.

dating sites are not efficient, you gotta do a lot of work, invest a lot of time and money. Ren wants suckers to toss women at him and if the girls last with him... then he pays out chump change. If the girls come to him, then all he has to do is sift thru other peoples wasted time. If it doesn't last or the girl isn't desperate enough then he pays zero. but just paying out a one time $10k for minimal effort is a great bargain for convenience.

Actually, if I were Ren, I would much rather sort through thousands of women in which I could filter out the majority in a matter of minutes (like online dating websites) rather than go on 400+ dates just to find out I don't like something about them that I could've found out on her profile.

In the matter of time this guy commutes to work, he could filter out ~100 dates using an online site rather than sit through the same amount of actual dinner dates.

Also, what Ren is soliciting is not prostitution, he is simply offering money to someone to find a good match, not directly paying for sex (heck, sex is not even mentioned I don't think). This method is actually still practiced in modern society and the job of 'matchmaker' has a long, respected history in many Asian countries.
