Anyone else using Wireless Charging in the armrest ?
Good morning from the UK,
I assume everyone has the ability to do wireless charging in the armrest as I thought all cars come with Display Keys ? I want to love wireless charging in the car but I'm finding it so painfully slow it's not usable, do you find the same thing ? I'm an iPhone 7 Plus user with a wireless case and I commute 2 * 2 hours per day. I've done some testing and when i'm charging the phone but not using it ( i.e. listening to Radio rather than Apple Music via Car play ) I only get about 2% battery increase every 30mins or so. If I'm wireless charging and using the phone like Podcasts or Apple Music via car play the phone neither charges or discharges so holds steady. This is compared to the USB cable I have plugged in to the USB port in the arm rest which charges the phone very very quickly ( maybe fully in 30mins ? ) I could have a rubbish case but I believe QI is pretty standard Does anyone else have any experience of this ? Thanks in advance Si |

I think you have a rubbish case. I am using a Nillkin for iphone7 and it charges quite quickly.

I am guessing a bit, but I'd say about 20% - 25% per hour, perhaps as much as 30-30%. That works out to 3-4 hours for a charge from zero (but I have never put it in with zero charge). My usual is I have 65-70% getting in the car for a 1:40 drive to our weekend house and when I get out it is 100%. That is also generally with infrequent calls, but running TunedIn for web radio sometimes. I do not play music from the phone, preferring the car's HD.

This will make you laugh, I went to buy this case this morning via the Link i posted above and it said I have already bought this item so this is the case I'm already using.
I wonder if the iPhone 7 Plus is way more power hungry than the smaller variant We have the same Interior colour ( or Color as you would say ) BTW which is quite unusual in the UK Si |

p.s. on the color, I don't think it is that rare here, though I haven't been looking for others with it. I like the very dark blue/black that is Azurite with the tan interior. I ordered it that way as I'd had similar on my F10 and got lots of compliments.
Good luck with your case. i do think there could be a problem with the one you got.

Thanks for taking the time to come back to me
I'm tying my phone a wireless charging dock in the house. One thing that did strike me as placement is very important, which way do you put your phone in the pocket ? Lightening port towards the back of the car or front ? I put mine in so the charging port in nearest the front of the car but I wonder if it needs to be the other way to get the charging points to match up. I guess when we get our iPhone X's in a few weeks the case won't be a problem ;-) Si |

I put mine in with the lightning connector to the rear, back of the phone nearest me. But I am in the US. not sure how the UK pocket is set up. IPhone 8 is supposed to have wireless charging but dont know if Apple will adopt the QI standard.

BTW, I have a wireless flat plate that fits in my F31, and the Nillkin case works fine in that too.

Apple's new phones appear to be Qi compliant. There is some other thing they are talking about that sounds like some kind of proximity charging but that is in the works and not available yet.

I had previously been using a charging case by a Chinese company (Antye) on my iPhone 7 Plus, which worked fine, but charged my device reeeaalllly slowly. I have just stepped up to the iPhone 8 Plus and charging is a little faster and works like a charm. Loving the fact I don't have to use a case anymore.

Iphone 8 charges fairly quickly on Qi chargers -- at least my experience since Friday. But I haven't calculated a rate. My impression is the wireless coil in the iPhone 8 is larger than what they put in the aftermarket cases and it is easier to get it placed right. In 750 with charging pocket this is not an issue.
