Apple car play

hello guys
I bought the car with the Apple car play installed in anticipation of Apple X. ( got a samsung note3 at the moment, very happy with it but it is time to change)

My question though is if Apple car play is actually working better than the Android/BMW suit. I understand that you can not see stations etc on the HUD and you can not dictate emails and messages on Apple car play? Is that correct? I also understand that Apple wireless is not compatible with our wireless pocket?

Your advice will be appreciated

Apple wireless for new phones is said to be Qi which is compatible. Appleplay does nothing for email but allows reading and dictating texts, and works fairly well. For email, you'd have to do a long press on the speaker button to bring up Siri. As long as you have a connection Siri will read your mail and allow you to dictate a response. I don't know what you mean about stations in the HUD. You can see radio stations if you press the button. From Appleplay all you see is "Now playing in apple play". IMHO Appleplay is still an immature technology, but implemented as well as it can be in BMW. I'm not familar with the Android system, so can't compare but from what I have read you can do emails, so you might want to hold off with the Apple phone if that is important to you. BMW does not do emails in the Connected Drive the way it did in F series. I think they do not want you to email while you are driving.

thanks, appreciated!

I am not sure though that APple will use QI

http://fortune.com/2017/09/08/iphone...tive-charging/

But some rumors suggest that Apple may tweaked the Qi technology being used in the new iPhones to make it incompatible with common Qi charging pads. Japanese tech news site Macotakara reported last month that the new iPhones would charge at 7.5 watts, half the current Qi standard and would not be compatible with existing Qi charging pads. Only Apple-certified recharging equipment will work with the new iPhones, according to the report.

That is too bad if they aren't compatible with QI chargers. That would deter me from getting a new phone. It is also possible that they will just charge slower. We will know more in a couple of days.
