Impressive. But this is with an eagle f1 supercar tyre (summer only), which is a bit like the pirelly trofeo R tyre thats optional on the mclaren P1.
Still very impressive though.
Probably also a blast to drive. 650hp and a 6 speed manual
Sadly silly expensive where I live (CO2 tax will be far over 100k alone...)

The Goodyears are more of a MPSS equivalent. Trofeo R and Michelin Cup tires are in a different category. Take a quick look on the camaro forums, guys are constantly upgrading from these tires to something more track oriented.

Regardless of the tire, this is amazing performance!

If it was a German car manufacturer they would've charged at least $170k for that kinda of performance, Porsche charges $3k extra for the color orange on its sports cars.
Same color you can get for free on a Mustang, Charger, Camaro...
German car manufacturers are fuckin greedy!

What "European equivalents"? No $70,000 European car goes around a track that fast. Not even close.

I'd take an Alfa Romeo Quadrifolgio over this any day. 7:32 around the 'Ring and 4 doors. No stick though which is an issue.

What do you mean by "equivalent"? BMW has nothing even close to this in terms of performance. And comparing $70k 7:16 ring track car interior quality to $70k BMW interior quality is just foolish...

American cars are only fast in a straight line... try this at a real track then come talk to me.

Manufacturers website says the lap time was done on "exclusive Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R."

Tirerack lists the non-R version as an extreme category summer 220tw. OE for the SS 1LE and standard ZL1- these guys are calling it comparable to the MPSC2..

It didn't do that lap on a tire like MPSS with how much aero and how much spring rate this probably runs. Not taking away from the car but street tires don't last on a 2 minute course at 8/10s, they won't last on a 7 minute course at 10/10s (which many ~200tw tires will lose steam over).

Sounds like a wonderful trade-off then. I'll gladly trade BMW's better interior for Camaro's better chassis, handling, steering, dampers, differential, traction management systems, brakes, price, power, torque, sound, acceleration, lap times, etc.

You are correct, poor "thirty grand" BMW comes with fake leather and halogen headlights...

i drove a new Camaro SS, no NVH you're talking about.

My previous M3 had more squeaks and rattles actually.

A lot of whining here...
Why do you guys drive bmw's in the first place?
Everyone knows that a lot of similar (or lower) priced US cars will be way faster and usually will come with more equipment.
Lots more HP for a US car (EU manufacturers arent allowed to make the same engines/technology due to regulations) and cheaper materials/systems (thats the trade off).
This isnt the first cheap car that'll beat most/all stuff bmw has to offer for less money (corvettes for example do the same)

If I would be living in the US I'd probably be driving a corvette because of the price/performance. (and certainly not a current m3/m4)

I have driven one, this one is mine. The NVH you are talking about does not exist.

On road trips this car is every bit as comfortable (suspension is a bit firmer, but not harsh at all) as my Previous Audi S4, and so far the ZL1 has not had to go back to the dealer for a rattle in the dash (the S4 did, not a big deal, but we are picking nits here).

They have done an outstanding job wrapping everything that you touch in alcantara so you don't feel cheap plastics.

There is less tire/road noise then my Boxster S had (with the top up).

A lot of haters here. This is an impressive time from an impressive car.

For all the nvh haters... the German equivalent are what? The Porsche GT3 RS? I've got news for you... the GT3 has almost no sound deadening and is very loud. Road noise, engine noise, tire noise, etc is through the roof on the GT3
