P Car Lease Question

So how strict is Porsche about handing the car back in after a lease?

Are they going to be going through it with a fine tooth comb?

I'd like to know this as well. I bought way too practical of a car this last go round, and in the next year or so, my expenses are going to drop drastically. A 911 or Cayman lease is looking enticing.

Why do people call it a "P car"?? I have a B car and would someday love to get a L car. hahaaa sorry to thread-jack just curious.

Also, they should send you the lease return kit which should explain everything. I'm sure it will be the same as every other car company.

The model numbering system is tricky for most.

I've heard varied reports regarding how detailed Porsche is on lease returns.

They have third party companies do the inspections. I'm having one done next Friday on my 991 Carrera S as the lease is ending in a few weeks. I can report back then.

You can ask the leasing company for a detailed list of what is considered allowable. For example, most companies allow for dings and scratches smaller than a certain size and specify allowable tread depth among other things.

Interested in this as well since I'm 2 months into my Cayman lease now I've never kept a car until lease end so this is potentially a first for me.

I had the lease end inspection performed last Friday. It was done by a third party company called Autovin. They came out to the house. It was a very detailed inspection - including measuring paint thickness, tire tread depth, photographing all components for the car, etc. etc. Took about an hour.

My car is as literally as clean as they come - never driven in rain, perfect in every respect. Only 4k miles.

A preliminary report was given to me at the conclusion of the inspection that was sent to Porsche Finance, who in turn send me a final report today, which indicated there would be a $450.00 'excess wear and tear' charge for a 5" scratch on the underside of the chin of the front fascia. Invisible unless you are underneath the car. Keep in mind my car has SPASM which rides 20mm lower than the standard suspension, plus it has the Sport Design front facia which protrudes farther than the standard fascia. It is virtually impossible to drive this car in normal conditions without an incidental scrape of the chin, which again is invisible unless you are underneath the car.

I called PFS this morning and pleaded my case, the representative agreed that this should be classified as normal wear and sent it off to management to remove the charge. I assume this is how it will end.

So, bottom line, yes, they inspection is quite thorough. Opposite of my experience with other leasing companies.
