AC compressor pulley symptoms
I got my Idler, Tensioner, and belt replaced. How do i know the ac pulley is gonna go out and is there a way I can bypass it with a smaller belt? I have another e90 for daily... But before all that what symptoms does it show or does it just fail outta nowhere? Car has 197,000 miles.

Watch it with the engine running and AC on. Does it wobble or make noise? It might be tough to get a good visual on it, but look for any cracks or signs it might fail.
The short answer is no—it probably isn’t going to just fail on you. Yes there are cases where this has happened, but from what I understand they are rare. It’s also quite possible the failed pulleys showed some signs of ailing before shitting the bed outright. Yes, you can bypass the AC pulley. It’s super easy and will only cost you about $10, unless you get a finger (or your bird) stuck between the belt and one of the pulleys. In that case you’re looking at thousands of dollars in gruesome repairs. I used Bando 6PK1105. Any equivalent will work.
