So, I promised myself I wouldn't do this, but the dangers of having a time window before the car goes into production is too real, so I've added another option! I've changed Driving Assistant for DA Plus.

I was in Germany at the weekend and had a hire car that had active cruise, and while it was quite strange, it really did work and I thought it's something I would use from time to time.

A good option to have to be honest, so a really good choice! I love mine and use it every time I am in the car...You'll also enjoy the semi-autonomous driving it offers...although with quirks...

Once you and FastLaneJB get yours, we should arrange a meet up somewhere!

No but I’ve just heard today that I just got the order change in time as today was the last day to make changes so I expect I’ll get some movement soon. Build completion is week 10 and I think they expect it at the dealer week 1 or 2 in March but that’s the best date I’ve got so far

Not long now then, good that you could get the change in (in time!)

At least Winter will be over and you can enjoy the warmer and longer daylight when you do get the car and maybe they'll be abla to move the date up for you.

When using driving assistant at low speed ie in traffic jams, do you still have to keep your hands on the wheel?

No, I'm not sure what speed it works up to, however, you can completely let go the wheel for several minutes if you are below 15 mph in stop and go situations. A real benefit IMO.

it will also steer and follow the car in front (if it stays in the same lane) without any steering (using the lane assist, button to the left beside the ACC)

Both of these alone are worth their weight in UK driving situations. There may be some time limit for putting a hand on the wheel but I haven't found it yet (only 2-5 minutes of such stop and go...if you stop for more than 2 seconds though it does need you to touch the accelerator or touch the resume button to move forward...but no steering or other touch needed)...

Just spoke to my dealer. I'll make my own thread on my car specs and order but it's still not got a build week due to my individual paint. Nevermind, not in a huge rush.

Meet up sounds good and I think that's a good add 325_bucks. I had active cruise on the 2 cars I had before the M5 and I miss it on long work trips. It does make the trip much more relaxing.

I haven't got a formal update but B<W tell me building is starting next week. I thought it was this week but looks like Monday 12th now. Still due 2nd week of March although the wife has starting booking up the calendar so I don't know when I'll be able to go pick it up!

Wow. If they are building your car soon you might get it a bit sooner than you was thinking?

I tried chasing it at the weekend but their systems were offline so they couldn't tell me anything.

Chased it just how and it's not been updated since the 13th of last month with a status that it's accepted but not yet scheduled I wonder if this is simply because of the colour I picked delaying it. The new M5 probably has loads of orders being built currently in the same colour.

Or maybe they've built so many M760Li's to go into dealer showrooms they've run out of V12's.

Nevermind, there's no rush in theory other than once you order a new car you want it yesterday...

I think I'll be looking at least mid April myself at the earliest.

I keep seeing a lovely blue BMW 760 LWB Individual car on FB and can't help but think FastLaneJB's is also on the way but the interior was different and it had the exec lounge seating...so hoping it won't be too long for him as well.

Yeah my dealer has one, another dealer as well. But both of the 760's my dealer has have the Executive Rear Lounge. One isn't registered and they gave me a very tempting deal on that. Effectively I'd been pretty much getting that whole £5k package for nothing.

The problem is I just really don't want the Executive Rear Lounge. It removes a lot of the features from the front passenger seat and also lose the ability to have 5 people in the car on occasions. Not often but sometimes do have 5 people in the car. Ultimately it doesn't cost me anymore to not have it than the car that had it. It's strange as normally if you had unlimited money you'd probably tick all the boxes on most cars to have everything. However in this case I feel the Executive Rear Lounge for my needs is a negative, not a plus.

Definitely if you was buying one to sit in the back and be driven around, that's where you want it. Still if your not driving why get a 760Li. If you drive that hard it'll make you feel sick in the back, better to just get a 740Ld or such instead.

@pelo_cat would you mind doing me one more favour and just measuring the narrowest width of the boot? Sorry I know I’m asking a lot! But I just need to check one thing. It seems that from what I thought I’d measured, my 6 series boot is wider!

I'll look to find the minimum dimension in the boot (EDIT: where the D rings are on the sides but near the floor in the middle) but just to be sure, what point to what point of the below are you interested in specifically if it is not that??
