G12 sales lagging behind
https://seekingalpha.com/amp/article...ries-collapses
i can see why, i love my 2016 g12 750xi, the ride is great but in terms of comparing with other $100k plus cars it lacks the sophistication and details, for example compared to the new s550 or s560. From seats to internal fit and finish I feel more could have been done with G11/G12. what do you all think? |

I don?t necessarily agree in whole...in part I do agree if the 7 has standard equipment but a loaded 7 is quite special. I have Tartufo full merino and it?s amazing...the quality of the Merino leather is better than Mercedes easily, plus it covers every inch of the car...plus adding the Bowers and a Wilkins ties in the wonderful real aluminum bits throughout the cabin...and they light up at night...The ceramic controls are also very special and feels and looks more expensive than the Mercedes knobs... Alcantara headlining is a must and adding rear entertainment (those screens are amazing and the tablet control is cool) along with the sky lounge pano, it make the car feel special.
True it?s a shame most of this stuff isn?t standard for a 100k car but with all these things I can say it does feel more worth it at the $125k build level.

Wow. Please ignore any idiot who calls himself a "value" investor and owns Tesla, which has no PE. And, even though he won't provide any of his experience or qualifications, will likely point to the rise in Tesla's stock price to support the veracity of his claims.

It is perfectly normal for s class sales to drop since it is undergoing facelift this year. Moreover, the s class is slightly older. Having said that, the market for this segment of car has been shrinking. |

It'd be interesting to see the same comparison with the F02 -- first year sales (2009) vs. second year sales (2010). I've been really enjoying my 2016 G12 750Lxi. As I've equipped this car (basically ticking all the boxes) it's very luxurious and, dare I say, fun to drive for such a large car.

It would be good to see the year 1 through 7 of F series and trend line that and see how the G12 is doing...(also worth noting that in the UK the G11 is far more popular than the G12 so although US is F02/G12 it may be migrating to smaller cars as well?) Anyway, agree with you, I also love my G11 and it is by far the best car I've owned to date, understated luxury and very happy with it as well. |

BMW released figures of worldwide sales results for 2017: The 7 has increased 4.5% over previous year with 64,311 units sold worldwide. Not sure the consultant was correct...
In general, 8th record year in a row with over 2.088 Million cars delivered, 85,000 more than previous year. |

The 7 is more of a same sausage, different length than a specialty vehicle. Nearly all of the 7's features can be ordered on a 5 or possibly a 3. Next, the super duper features that are available on the 7 are geared towards autonomous driving. In other words, these feature suck the fun out of the driving experience by disengaging the driver. The end game for the 7 is pretty clear: the next generation 7 might as well be a taxi with the driver included. Boring. |
