Also if you go with the GT-R see if you can put it under your parents insurance policy. Mine is under my parents policy and saves me more than half of what it would be on my own policy |

For that kind of dough and considering the use case I would not consider anything else but an F-Type V8S. Way better looks, way more usable and comfortable while still having that "dangerous" feeling. I have lots of seat time in the V8S and R coupe and they are so much fun. Miami does not have good driving roads and the F-Type feels special at all speeds--cruising around and blasting on the highway (it handles well too but there aren't any curves in Miami). And the sound is glorious. And women loooove it. I love GTR's but unless you can exploit the performance regularly it will feel very pedestrian and its faults will become evident quite quickly.

I doubt he's buying it outright. It's easy to lease or pay monthlies on a car and get yourself a cheap payment. I have friends that buy $100K cars with zero down, 72 months term and pay $1,000 or so a month for them. Anyone with a halfway decent job can pay that. You're renting it, but who cars about that when you pull up at the club brooooooooooo |

They are awesome cars, very tunable, 650hp with a remap, injectors, air filter and exhaust.
They do have some quirks with the gearbox noises being situated just behind the driver, once warm they like to chuckle alittle Grip and traction is simply brilliant. Runflats are horrible in the wet, dunlops are good on the track, but a decent set of toyo R888s or Cup2s make all the difference. Quite a wide/large car, dimensions can take awhile getting use to, rear camera is a useful option, and one of the biggest gripes is the very poor bluetooth telephone mic.. what was Nissan thinking, satnav is relatively quite good. Bose setup is nicer on the newer model cars, DBA cars are better with DRLs and smoother suspension. Power delivery is just brutal.. acceleration is epic.

Insanely good off the line because of traction control. High insurance rates. Harsh ride and lots of noise. I would rather have a Z06.

Do it. I moved from e92 m3 to GTR. Different characteristics, but both amazing cars. You won't be disappointed. Here's mine:

They're the most reliable in it's level of performance. A used 2012+ would be best as they have been updated from the 2009-2011 models to not require maintenance as often. Trans fluid is a bit expensive & tires will be roasted quickly, but that's the major costs of the cars maintenance.
If you have the replace a transmission though, good luck. But at 23 (you're my age) I'd recommend waiting another 2 years. The used 2009 GTRs with 50k miles cost $50k, give or take, for now. Their market value is going to drop a bit soon with the R36 moving into production. Plus, in the meantime you can save up a bit for the mods that will come |
