F01 Timing Chain Recall?
Morning,
...was blindsided at the dealership this weekend. Took my '09 750i in for an oil change, and they tell me there's a timing chain recall. No cost to me, and got a 3 series loaner at no cost as well. Thing is, I cant't find any reference to this recall anywhere. Anyone know anything about it? I guess I can put in a call to BMWNA, but wanted to check around. Thanks, |

"This is a 2-part campaign by BMW for cars with the N63 engine. It was announced on 12/29/2014 and called "N63 Customer Care Package", bulletin B001314. The highlights are: - check the timing chain for stretch; replace if necessary - check the following items and replace if necessary: fuel injectors, mass air flow sensors, crankcase vent lines, battery, engine vacuum pump, low pressure fuel sensor - change the oil service interval to 12 months/10,000 miles Even if your car is out of warranty (ie, 5 years old and has 200k miles), it is covered by this campaign and costs the owner nothing. The dealers are instructed to call all N63 owners in their area and schedule the cars to come in for this service, pending the dealership's availability. The dealership is instructed to provide a loaner car of equal or higher class to the customer (per N63 Customer Care Package Outbound Service Script document). BMW is also offering extra incentives for owners affected by this campaign to trade in their N63 vehicle and purchase a new car (called the N63 Customer Loyalty Offer, details in a separate sales bulletin). Also associated with this campaign is the "N63 Customer Appreciation Program". The dealerships are authorized to provide the customer with a gift of $50 value. This could be a gas card, gift bag containing BMW Lifestyle products, vehicle detailing, etc." |

Very interesting....I replaced all these things with the exception of the mass air flow sensor and still had issues on my 2009 750i.

And people wonder why we always recommend having a warranty and maintenance plan on a 7 series.

Its not a recall.
They are calling it a customer appreciation package. So it may not be rolled out everywhere around the world. I hope they do though.

I know many 1 and 3 Series cars that have had everything from electric waterpumps to turbos to complete engines replaced below 30,000miles, and others not long after the plans expired. Same goes for Mercedes, Audi, Volvo VW ect ect ect

They are replacing the following in this package if the parts are not of the latest modification standard. Maybe you have 1 or 2 not yet replaced • Hot-Film Air Mass Sensors • PIEZO High Pressure Fuel Injectors • Engine Vacuum Pump • Fuel System Low Pressure Sensor/Feed Line • Fresh Air Intake Turbo Seals • Crankcase Ventilation Lines (Hoses)

Some questions:
1. Has anyone been everything short of turned away for bringing your car in for the campaign? After a blood pressure rising back and forth, SA states my car will be returned to me if parts need to be ordered and I'll have to schedule another appointment upon parts arrival. Seems absurd, as I'm experiencing a misfire at this time. Is it even safe to drive a car with a misfire? 2. Is every car that falls under the campaign entitled to an oil and filter change, even if out of warranty? Does it make a difference if the car had a recent oil and filter change (2,000+ miles ago)? 3. Is every car that falls under the campaign entitled to a new battery, even if out of warranty? Does it make a difference whether the car has the 90 amp battery or the 105 amp one? Seems every 90 amp battery should be replaced! 4. Would any of the parts under this campaign remedy a problem where it's difficult to fill one's gas tank because pump nozzles constantly shut off automatically (a problem I've had since my vent lines were replaced due to the smell of gasoline in my cabin)? What a mess. Thanks. Last edited by dbs600; 01-13-2015 at 02:24 AM.. |

Mercedes did recall Takata airbags in certain European SL and SLK models. They all have had recalls over the years, including other airbag recalls by each of those manufactures

i am getting this hard shift sometimes from 3-4 gears. not sure if its my way of driving or trans issue. you can see the rpm needle just hard at 2kto 3k at shift. its hard reason for my concern. |
