Thumbs up on the car overall but another thumbs down for pointed Maserati grill. Just put the M2 nose on it and call it good.

nice engine note! the looks are ok with me, especially when you M it up I imagine it will look pretty good. Although the basic design reminds me of the new lexus coupe that just launched a few months back...mixed with a M4. This thing actually looks like a MASSIVE future M4...lol.

Absolutely stunning! You will notice starting with the all new BMW X3 (G03) the Grilles are no longer connected to the headlights. I also suspect the next BMW Z4 (Whatever it may be called) will have a front bumper and tail light similar to this 8 Series concept.

TBH, I am not feeling the front end at all. Does not appeal to me. No "WOW" factor.
Oh well, to each his own...

The new Lexus LC500 also has flush door handles. It's quite beautiful.

There is nothing wrong with this car from any angle. This can't come soon enough.
Bmw has to make this a fun car. If this ends up boring like many other recent products it will be nothing more then an rc350. But if they could make it fun then an M version would be something to go after the gts with.

I like it a lot. But so wish they still had the 6. I have a 6 and can afford / justify that. But this will be way out of my price range.

Even if it has a $20k premium over the 7 series (like S coupe vs S sedan), the 840i should end up costing about $100k which is somewhere between a 650 and M6. Not bad if you ask me considering how awesome it looks. If you can't afford it, wait a year or two and get a CPO 840/850.

This is the car BMW needs, What a statement! Hopefully this will be like the i8, production car is just made from the concept. It's Close to perfect as it is ??

Yes, this is a really awesome looking car! I'd love to own it but it'll be out of my reach.
I'm just worried that they will chicken out as ususal when it comes to the final design and make it much less aggressive and more bland looking. |

The exhaust definitely sounds like V8. You'll have no more doubt if you carefully listen to the very first video, the racetrack sequence where you hear it revving up and sounding exactly like the recent V8 M models.

So it definitely is more like a 6 than an 8 dimension-wise, but due to its upmarket ambition BMW decided to name it 8, even though it isn't a 2 door 7 Series as it logically should have been. I hope its stunning design and high quality interior will not only make it successful against direct rivals (S Class Coupé and Lexus LC) but will also make it credible against the British exclusive marques (Aston Martin and Bentley) which it clearly draws inspiration from. Hence why it should also offer a V12 version, at least for image reasons, but wouldn't they have put a V12 in the Concept then?... Last edited by advantage20; 05-26-2017 at 06:22 AM.. |

True, in the other video it briefly sounds like the current M6.

Good lord that's terrible. Such a confused design with extremely fussy front end. BMWs were always defined by an upright face. It's bad enough collision laws have causes that upright front end to drop down but now they want to make it into a point? Super weird.
