Huge and yet only 2.5 inch longer than the original E31 8 Series.
And 2 inch lower than the outgoing 6 Series.
@Calvin36

It ain't easy comparing vehicles from different generations on a 20" computer monitor or 6" phone.

advantage20 thanks for the math ..

Shmee150 confirms it's based on the 5 Series... So basically what a new 6 should have been, and a good reason for it to get no V12...

Yeah I agree ! Even Merc is doing better for the moment and BMW runs behind the facts...
Take a look at this green beast , everything from the design looks damn right ...BMW should learn from this !
I heard one in person and it was jaw dropping !

Sorry, it doesn't happen often lately but the 8-series concept looks like 1000 times better than this. It's like 15 years in the future. Mercedes is playing it too safe with its sport cars. This can work for the C, E and S, but not for the all-out sport cars and GT cars.

The future ? I actually heard bad things for us in the future !
The green boys want all the NA engines off the roads in 2040 , it was in the Belgian newspapers .
And here is more from the future => https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2016-ev-oil-crisis/

As for the new 8er design , I already said no thank you BMW .
Of course I understand it's all about personal preference ..

Funny. That's actually the look nowadays. Here in L.A., every hipster clown wears super skinnies, rolled up without socks and a beard.

I think it looks great. It still clearly looks like a BMW, but definitely a more modern styling exercise. I like how the center of the dash nicely incorporates the touch screen, so it no longer looks like someone wedged an iPad into the top of the dash. I also like how the center curves down and toward the driver, to make the entertainment and climate controls easier to reach.

What's not so nice is the price. 190-200k Euros for the top of the line model (I think he said 860i)? At current exchange rates, that's $213-224k! Yikes!

I don't know what that is, but that is not a BMW. Feels like BMW is doing the Lexus LC thing. It is very ugly.

you realize you're comparing a concept car to the track version of the AMG GT right? Once BMW brings out the actual (toned down) car they are more than capable of making a GTS that can be festooned with all the spoilers, diffusers, and canards you want.

So I just read on another site that the grill will not make production version as is on the concept. Such a shame, Now I'm afraid of how much this is going to get watered down. Its perfection as is.

I realize even more...
BMW needs ASAP a bullet to compete with the other beasts on the market (3 sec. cars)
The last good move I saw from BMW was the new 2018 ///M5 Xdrive (AWD) with 608 HP !

Meanwhile I hope BMW will change a lot from the 8er concept design , because with this design and a price from 180-200K it will not hit on the car market ..
Even with spoilers or even a track edition of the 8er will come too short compared with the Merc ///AMG GT .

Good thing huge bell bottom jeans and baggies didn't make it back onto the fashion 'scene'.
