Take it to the dealer and don't use Carly App if you don't know what you're doing? For example these cars (at least plugin hybrids) will go to some kind of ... "sleep mode" (?) automatically even if car is unlocked but not driven / used. Sleep Mode = iDrive shuts down on it own.

Sit in your car, listen music and after xx minutes there will be this message "... iDrive shutting down" or such.

Maybe something similar happened while you were going trough Carly App diagnostic menus or something?

TBH our Estonian friend Raimo5 is real Guru around here. Hopefully he'll spot this as you cant PM until you have like ... 10 posts?

Carly app is well known for causing issues when coding modules. More so with newer vehicles.

Good news is that your BDC module itself is okay, but coding file that Carly deployed is messed up and is causing those issues. To fix this issue, new and proper coding file has to be injected or entire module flashed with new software. Any dealer or properly equipped BMW specialist indie can do it for you.

I strongly caution agaist using Carly on G series vehicles.

I wouldn't throw away the device. You can still use it to read trouble codes. Just dont use Carly app for coding. Dongle itself might even be compatibe with other apps and programs.

Raimo5 Wouldn't ESYS fix this?

Just asking...not to have the OP try this them self, but more so for the rest of us.

No, not entirely. I can't recall that I have ever seen a coding failure like these reported about BimmerCode on general BMW forums. There are precedents in specialized car software forums, though. Specifically for NBT evo on S15A and S18A platforms. These are far and in between though and dont seem to have common mode failures, like Carly's botched CAFD files.

Yes, absolutely. It would be the fastest way to do it. It is only CAFD file that is corrupted and is easy to restore. Just connect to platform as normal and then perform 'Detect CAF for SWE', select CAFD from latest available i-level and VO code it in. Just thought I'll keep it simple for startes and point OP towards safest solutions.
